Question about PC Desktops

Autocad 2008 this is my first experience with autodesk autocad 2008 and need a little guidance before making a start.Having had problems with dreamweavers activation code I do not wish to make expensive mistakes again. Firstly I obtained a copy of introducing autocad 2008 by george omura[i believe he is an Autodesk authorised author].The book refers to a series of exercises and I would like to know if there should be a CD/DVD supplied with the book or if the information is on the net as a free download? Do you think that I need to become proficient in 2008 before using 2009? As I intend to have a career in arhitecture what in your opinion what would the logical progression from 2008? PS as I am unemployed I need to keep the cost as low as possible, and as I can't find local help,I need to find a regular source to help with any problems I have. These problems may have simple answers but I can't afford any basic ****-ups that might bite me on the bum later. thanks.baldingspider

U can directly download it from the net.the cd/dvd which u will get that will also have that same but orignal version..but from the net u will get that same but copied version of that cd/dvd.if that copied version sometimes do not support some operating systems then go for the orignal version that u will have to buy from the orignal dealer.

First thing there should be a CD that came with that book that you have purchased, it will be better if you become proficient first with 2-8 so it will be much easier for you to use the 2009 where there is some additional features on it.......

The series of excercises are to be done in Autocad itself.
Whether you learn in 2008 or 2009 there is little difference. 2009 is just an update hence most of it is the same except for some minor improvements.
If you need more help on autocad you can look for tutorials online.
You can google autocad tutorials and there are free options there.

Autocad 2014 can it run with ncomputing x550

I have no experience with ncomputing units, but I have done extensive work in graphics programs such are Coreldraw and Photoshop. The one thing they all have in common is they require large amounts of memory and fast processors, otherwise rendering can be a nail-biting experience. I suggest reviewing the users' reviews at Amazon, and any other computer technology website.

I have a .dwg file that cause AutoCad 2009 to crash when I attempt to open it. I think that the problem is a missing or 'orphaned' X Ref, but I can't open the file to 'unload' the X Ref. What can I do to...

Thanks for your response.

To fix the problem I redrew the componenet and deleted the offending file. I found that I could open the file with AutoCad LT but not AutoCad 2009 Mechanical.
