Question about Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4) Router (1010835)

1 Answer

Connection no longer works (plus site)

I went onto http://192.168.2.1 and while trying to figure out how to add security to my wireless connection I clicked something, I have no idea what it was...And it 'applied changes'

Suddenly my internet cut off and I've tried everything to get it back on again but nothing seems to work!

I'm on the main computer now (that has the modem) and when I try to access the site from here to clear the changes it just doesn't work..

I've also tried to access it from my PS3 but even that can't connect to the wireless any more.

I assume windows OS.
if your computer is connected to your router,
open a command prompt (windows key + r and type cmd in the run box)
type ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /all
look for the ip address of the Default Gateway

open web browser
type http://(default gateway ipaddress) (notice the lack of "www.")
this should get you started.

My router is no longer sending out a signal- when I try to connect to the internet on my laptop, it does not even pop up as an option. What should I do?

There could be various reasons for your router's behaviour. Please try the following steps.

1. Restart the router by unplugging the power cable connected to the router and connect it back after 2 minutes.
2. Check after restarting it you see the signals. (check your wireless utility or windows utility to see if you see the signal).

The remaining steps depend on:
1. what you see in your Wireless connection utility
2. Lights glowing on your router
3. Are you the only one using the router
4. Is there any security configured in the router

I have a g router and i tried to set it to secure but i guess i jacked it up cause it knows its there but it wont hook up i went back into security settings but it doesnt work for me please help

Usually when people set security they don't pay attention to the security code that it generates or you create.

  • Remote back into your router
  • Go to the wireless menu
  • Find security settings
  • Turn off security
  • Connect to that connection with your computer again.
  • return to the wireless security settings
  • Use the wpa security. It will request a password or code you want to use
  • Return to your computer and reconnect (it should show a padlock on the connection now)
  • Double click the connection name and it will request the wpa key.
  • You can use other securities, but you need to use that same key on both the router and computer

Connection Down - Can't access website

its better if you reset the router to its default settings..

Reset button can be found on the back side of router....It will be a small red button....

Hold this button for 10 sec... and it will go to default seting..

now you can configure it according to your requirements...

Cant add a security password to stop others gaining access to my internet connection.

I think you try to change the password with your wireless conection, right?
Things WILL go wrong if you access the Routher wireless, use a cable when you want to make changes.

How do I secure my DLink-524 wireless

In securint your wireless security try accessing the configuration page of the router. go the the window where you created your wireless netowrk connection.

On that Wireless window choose WEP for security.
By defaut WEP Encryption is 64bit.
Under Key1 erase what's on the box and type in the password for your wirelss network. It should be exactly 10 characters, You could use 0 to 9 or A to F then click on Apply >next.
Try Accessing your wireless networ.

Belkin Wireless won't work at all - it won't even flash

Is this a brand new router? If so, did you use the Setup Assistant Software that came on a CD that was included with the router? This should have taken you through all of the necessary steps to ensure that wireless was working.

When you say that you "reset the router", did you just push the RESET button or did you hold it down for 10 seconds to restore the Factory Default Settings?

If you have the CD, I would recommend that you hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and go through the set-up process. If you do not have the CD, you can download the software here:

I recommend that you set up a basic wireless network and the add security once your router and wireless computer are communicating. For this to happen, you just need the two devices to match on the SSID.

If you need the manual, you can download it here:
http://tinyurl.com/6heo43

By the way, the blinking green wireless light just means that the router is detecting wireless activity, and this can be from other computers in your vicinity.

Securing a wireless connection

To secure your wireless connection, do you mean by
1. Encryption using WEP or WAP
2. MAC address filtering on your wireless card
3. Disabling SSID broadcast.
If so you need to configure your wireless settings using Internet Explorer, the URL would be http://192.168.2.1 (check the config. TCP/IP address in your manual)

Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4)

hello!

normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.

i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected
