I very carefully removed the cover (total of 8 screws,KEEP TRACK of where they go!!) pry off cover carefully, watching the mini usb port connector. The back where the joystick is located has a little circuit board that can be removed to expose the switch/joystick dial. There is a little steel indented piece that fits into the plastic dial edge. Carefully pull out the steel piece and see if the dial rotates. I used a bit of silicone on a q-tip for lube, carefully reassembled and have a fully functional easily rotatable dial once again. Take your time, it's worth it to save 125$!!

Hey pooda2, It does sound like there is damage to your lens. Manufacturers’ warranty does not cover damage but a Best Buy™ performance service plan with accidental damage and handling would cover the repair. To find out if you have a performance service plan with adh on the camera you should call 1-888bestbuy. If you do have the plan you could bring your camera to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out for service. If you don't have a performance service plan with adh on it you could still have it sent out to get an estimate on how much it would cost to repair it, but often with digital cameras the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the camera. Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
you have jammed the 3 lens studs outside of the track , you cannot fix it without dissembling the entire camera to the lens, its best to leave it alone and sell it on ebay for the lcd is worth 35 to 60
