Importing videos to windoews movie maker from motion pic browser?

I have a sony handycam dcr-dvd108. I installed motion pic browser and can watch my videos through that program. I also have windows XP. I need to figure out how to import the files into windows movie maker. I tried to do this already, and an error message came up saying something about codecs. I have no clue what the heck that means. Please help. Thanks.

Hi, This link will explain what a codec is. You will need to update the computer's codec every so often to play certain video files. Try to inport the video into WWM again and follow the instructions. It should work. I you still have problems try e-mailing me direct at www.unclefluffy1964@yahoo.com and I'll see what I can do.

Can you please tell me why when i try to import vidoes using picture motion browsing i am getting the message Cannot find source media for importing,

You might be connecting the Camcorder using USB interface. Picture Motion Browser Cannot be used for transferring videos from tape camcorder (mini DV in your case) using USB interface..

Operating System also matters..

If you're using XP OS, you can install the driver from supplied CD and use Windows Movie Maker to transfer the recordings using USB interface.

Vista, Windows 7 - You need to use i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer the recording. When using i.LINK with Vista, you can use the Picture Motion Browser software.

I think this will definitely help you to connect the Camcorder..

It can and do take some time to use these disks, this is the reason camera makers dropped putting DVD in movie cameras, simply never worked well, grab a digital 8mm camera if you like reliable cameras.
