In case you did not receive my solution for what card you need: Your PC has a slot for a PCI express graphics card. Any PCI express card should work in your PC. The price will vary depending on what kind of performance you require from the card.

I have as graphic card an ati 550x series with a dvi and a video output, mounted on a philips freevent desk top computer. Which other (better) card can i buy?

upgrading your graphics card is mostly based on the other components in your pc and the available slots in your motherboard

the old graphics card slot is called an AGP slot (google it for an image)
the new graphics card slots are called PCI-E (again, google it for an image)

the other thing is the components, if you have a slow CPU or a small amount of RAM then if you could bottleneck any graphics card that you put in because the other components wouldn't be able to handle the speed and performance of the graphics card

Music and picture freezes during playback and when editing

1GB of RAM is too low. You should upgrade to 2-3GB.
You don't mention your video adapter (a.k.a. graphics card). It is a very important that you have a high-end dedicated video adapter for this task.

TomsHardware.com has excellent reviews of computer components and compares them side by side so you can see how your hardware stacks up.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

My 530 MT goes through graphics cards.

Def Wouldnt be putting in more cards, there is obviously something wrong. Either your Power supply aint putting out enough power or the pci slot that your cards are getting put into is messed up. First of all run without a graphics card(if u have integrated graphics card). Do some stability test with software like Sandra(www.sisoftware.net). If ur pc ran nicely and stable then definately it is a power supply issue.

Fan problem with an ATI graphics card in a Philips PC

If only the fan is the problem, it can easily be replaced by someone who knows what he's doing. Unless you have a lot of experience with things like this, I do not recommend you do it yourself, as there is a risk of you breaking the card. I would suggest you take it to a computer shop and ask someone there to do it for you. If replacing the fan doesn't get it to work, the card is probably broken, and you will need a new one. I hope this helps, Yannick.
