I just bought a flash drive, but i am not able to use it, as the message pops up saying that it is write protected, It surely doesn't have any switch to unprotect it. How can I remove the write protection?

From the Kingston website:
DT101G2 - DataTraveler 101 G2 FAQ

Is there any security or write protection feature available for this DataTraveler? Unfortunately this unit does not have any security or write protection feature. If you receive a write protection message with this drive, check for the following:

  1. Verify that you are allowed to write to removable storage devices. There may be a security setting in the OS that disables write access to removable storage devices.
  2. Make sure you have not enabled write protection on the drive by using a third party software.
  3. If none of the above apply, the drive may be defective. Contact Kingston Technical Support for further assistance.

My 2gi usb drive is write protected ,how do i correct it

Hi,

Most USB flash drives have a tiny switch somewhere around it's casing. You will have to look at it closely because it is sometimes placed where you won't notice it. If your computer says it is write protected, just unplug your flash drive, move the switch to the other end and plug it in again.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My USB flash memory is write protected how could I fix my problem please tell me.

First try to see is there is any lock in your media device or adapter and see if its not locking that media..it looks like slide switch .for one end it will lock the media and when you switch to other side you have the full access
but if that's not the reason it might be the problem with registry
Use the Registry Hack to Disable Writing to USB Drives
Here is the link .just download the zip folder and after opening the folder you will find a file just double click on it..

Low feed backs hurt my ratings and I tried my level best to resolve the issue. so show your appreciation by rating it.
Thanks for using fixya support..You have a wonderful day
