It should have something already install to make a recovery disk, if your on vista type recovery in the search and it should bring something up to make disk. this should be done asap in case something goes wrong you can put the software back on there. you also want to be sure you have a spyware & virus scaner on there. the ones that come with your computer and normaly only good for 90 days at the most. the 2 free ones i use are avast or avg ( only install one of them ) and for spyware try spybot or malwarebytes

also goto windows updates and get all the fix's and patchs for windows

My laptop gets the error pxe-e61 error and I do not have a bootable disk

Check your boot order. If it is set to network you'll get this error. It could also be due to bad cable, etc.
Error PXE E61 Media test failure check cable

It's a good idea to get a bootable USB that can run some utilities, as well.

I cannot open anything on my laptop. I also cannot install any new programs. When I try to open my basic programs such as volume, notepad, etc, the error window pops up stating that I do not have corr

Has the laptop been working until this issue? Which Windows OS are you running? If the laptop has been working and suddenly comes to this state, you may have got some kind of virus.
If this is a new OS installed laptop, then you may need to reinstall the OS.
It is normal for a newly laptop to only has a recycle bin on the desktop.

I'm trying to restore my laptop back to factory settings It's windows 7 the cd disk don't recovery disc don't work

Have you tried while in Windows, to use the Start Menu, find Acer on the All Programs list, and locate the recovery utility? I have an Acer laptop - an Aspire - and had to do exactly that. I used the built-in recovery routine on the Acer Laptop and was able to rebuild my laptop to the condition of when it just came out of the box, brand new.It will delete all your installations since you got it, applications and documents and photos, etc., will be gone, but your laptop will function as if brand new. Good luck with it. -a.

Can I format the harddrive on my dell inspiron 1464 and reinstallation win 7 with the DVD... If Yes how can format the harddrive from at the command prompt. please help thanks.

Hi
To set you computer back to factory fresh settings you will need to format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system and the drivers.
You will need your NEW Operating System disc or you will need to have the CD's that either you made when you got your computer or if your lucky you got the CD's that the factory furnished with the computer at the time you bought it.
If you do not have those CDs/DVDs then go the website of the computer manufacturer and search the website for "Recovery Discs", if they are not available
there you might locate them on Ebay.
1.Format the hard drive:
You do this by double left clicking on "My Computer",then double left click the main drive (normally C drive).
When the window pops open, you will choose "Format"
Keep in mind that once you format your hard drive you will loose all your files, programs, pictures, etc that you installed since the computer was new.
So make your back up on a portable hard drive, thumb drive, etc.
2. Once the formatting of the hard drive is complete you will need to reinstall the operating system along with the drivers.
Install the first disc and start the program.
That will bring your computer back to factory new condition as far as operating is concerned.
Please take time to rate me

I have a toshiba a660 about 6 months old, i have now found out my son has been all over the porn world with it and it now is starting to freeze, go slow etc etc. Is there a way i can delete absolutely...

Well, boys will be boys..!
A system restore will remove ALL your own personal data. So any pictures, documents or spreadsheets, as well as your emails, will disappear. Probably a good idea to try make a backup onto some external hard drive first.

The system recovery process will reset your machine to the state it was in when you bought it, more or less.

However, perhaps performing an online virus scan would be a better option? Try going to the trendmicro website and run Housecall.

I cannot get the acer erecovery management page to give me the option of making a DVD recovery disk

Hi!
You can try the following steps:
1. Click on "Start" and then click on "Control Panel."

2. Double-click on "Backup and Restore Center" if you are using Windows Vista. If you are using Windows 7, click on "System and Maintenance" and then click on "Backup and Restore."

3. Click on the "Create a system repair disc" button in the pane on the left-hand side of the window. A new dialog box will open.

4. Insert a blank DVD (or CD if you do not have a DVD, but you may need to use several CDs, so a DVD is better).

5. Click on the drop-down menu in the dialog box and select the DVD that you inserted into your DVD drive.

6. Click on "Create disc." Wait for the green progress bar to fill while the disc is written. When this is done, a new box will open with a message telling you how to label the disc.

7. Label the disc according to the name in this message and then click on the "Close" button to close the box.

8.

Click on "OK" to close the next box and then close the Control Panel.

9. Remove the recovery disc from your computer and put it somewhere safe until you need it.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

I was looking for step-by-step install guide to putting new hard drive and loading Windows XP on my Dell Inspiron E1505?? I purchased a WD 320GB SATA hard drive to replace my dead 80gb hard drive....Dell...

All you've got to do is:

1) Insert the new hard drive.
2) Press the F8 key as the laptop boots. This will take you into the BIOS.
3) Locate the disk drive priority setting in the bios.
4) Set Priority 1 to your CD/DVD drive and priority 2 to the 320GB hard drive.
5) Save settings and exit the BIOS. This should reboot your laptop.
6) Insert the Windows XP CD.
7) It should not start the setup as it recognises the CD.
8) I will recommend that you format the drive before you install, go along with the format (make sure it does a full format).
9) After the format it will reboot your system.
10) You will be prompted with a message like "Press any key to boot form CD", DON'T press anything otherwise it will start all over again.
11) Now it should start the install. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Restoring factory settings on Dell 1501

You can run a system repair with the recovery or operating system disc to get it back to the factory settings. A repair will reset the system, and leave any of your files, pics, and programs that you've put into the machine. If you want to clear everything, and go back to the factory settings, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system.

You can go to Dell's site and order one, or you might be able to tell them the box was open at the store and it didn't have one with it, they may send you one at no charge.
