Thank you SO much!! I removed the drum and sure enough there was a defect where the lines were - so we ordered a new drum and hopefully that will solve the problem! Thank you again!

Sounds like the drum surface has been damaged by some foreign object.

Typically when you get imaging errors such as lines from top to bottom of a page there is a permanent scratch on the drum surface. Pull the drum unit out of the printer/copier and carefully examine the drum surface, you most likely will see the damage quite easily. The only repair is to replace the drum unit with a new one. HOWEVER... be sure to clean the inside of the machine with a toner vacuum to remove any dirt, debris or paperclips, staples, etc that might have accidentally been introduced into the unit.

Hope this helps you out.

Cheers,

Keith

Glad to know that I was able to solve your copier problem.

I was Systems and Design Engineer for Kyocera-Mita America for nearly 6 years and a Field Engineer for a consulting firm in Georgia for more than 5 years and have seen this problem all too many times.

Best of luck, and have a great holiday season!

    Cheers,

    Keith

Black line scan

Open the scanner lid and clean the narrow glass in the left-hand part of the scanning area. Look for remains from ink or corrector at the far end and wipe them out. The narrow glass should be entirely clear to make good copies from the feeder.

IR4570 paper jams at fixing unit whenever i try to make copies of A4 double seded. Legal is ok. problem repeats for every 6to8 copies after clearing the jamed paper.

Hi,
first clean all rollers espc. below the drum unit two rollers on axis, if the paper comes out bent in the roll open fresh pack of paper because of moisture, when you open the right door above fixing unit you will see one more small door that is loosen, on these inner door you will se long plastic flapper ( ussually black plastic with small picker fingers ) that is connected to solenoid, these flapper has on both sides some kind of sponge sticker on left and right space where it touch the inner door - REMOVE THEM.

Hope that helps!

Marks down left side of copy

There are several things that could be causing this I will TRY to address or suggest on all of them.

1.) If only appears when copying, double check the glass and make sure those areas are cleaned.

2.) If happens at all times, it could be the toner cartridge in the unit (especially if started when just changed). I would try another cartridge (later if you can stand the copies w/ the lines or if you have a spare).

3.) I have seen a lot of these machines do this putting vertical lines down the side of the paper because the fuser assembly has worn out and needs replaced.

I have seen #3 occur sometimes when paper gets jammed in a machine and someone pulls it out too rough, this can cause the slick cover over the fuser to crack, break, or bunch up, needing replaced.

Hope this helps you.

Blank line down left side of outgoing fax or feeder copy

The most common cause of blank (void) lines on a scanned document is from whiteout on the glass where the page is scanned when using the document feeder.
If there is a clear mylar sheet on the bottom of the document feeder, the whiteout may be there instead.

If there was dirt or a dark smudge on the glass (or mylar), it would show up as a black line, but whiteout is white, and shows up as a void (blank) line.

Black line is present when copying document; not

This sounds as if you have some ink/contamination on the small scaning glass that sits to either the left or right of the main glass on the copier.(Depending on the model/make)As your original is scanned over this thin piece of glass the scanning device will see any spots and this will result in a black line down the page. Please clean the glass with a soft rag.

How to photocopy double sided A4 sheets?

Hi,

you copy first side normaly. then on left side open bypass deck.Put the paper, so that the side on wich you want to print is down. Automatically when you put paper in bypass, the machine ask you wich format is it ( eg. A4 ), confirm with OK, then you need to tell machine wich type of paper ( eg. plain paper ) and OK. then green copy key.

Canon PC860 - Paper Jam resulted in black horizontal lines in subseq.copies

Greetings,
If the blank ink still cames in the printer means that their still ink inside the cartridge, kindly check if there are papers left inside the printer when it was removed if there is you have to take it off.

Turn off the printer, delete the remaining files that is to printed on the printer dialog box by just double clicking the icon found at the bottom of the task bar.

Turn on the power of the printer, have a printer test to test if the pritned copy is good. Clean the head, or the nozzle of the printer at the maintenance tab.

If the problem still arises means the head align was damage or mess align that happend when the paper was remove forcely.

That's all
