Question about Motorola Talkabout T5720 (7 Channels) 2-Way Radio

1 Answer

Staying keyed up after button release

The unit seems to stay keyed up after pushing the button and then releasing. When powered up, the unit will receive normally, but once it is keyed up and then released, it continues to transmit, but no more voice audio can be heard and the unit is unable to receive until power cycled. The light also stays on after the button is released and the other radio still hears the slight static associated with the faulty radio transmitting but voice can no longer be transmitted after release.

Re: Staying keyed up after button release

I have never seen this problem before, check if the VOX is activated, this could cause to transmit the radio, but the voice must be transmited. check if the Accesory connector is not dirty, clogged or damaged

My tx light is staying on ? so my base station is allowing everybody to hear whats being said in the office to the cars

Check your PTT (push to talk) button on your mic, and also double check the plug where it is connected to the radio. It sounds like your PTT is stuck.

Best regards.

I have a motorola AAM25KKD9AA2AN radio. When I key the microphone the radio powers off and when I release the microophone it powers back on. If I remove the antenna, it does not do this.

Sounds like a power problem. Check your wiring and battery connections. Or if using this radio as a base station with a power supply, check your wiring and the power supply. You are likely not getting enough power to operate the radio.

By keying the mic without an antenna connected you are creating high VSWR which is hard on the radio. It reflects power back into the radio and pounds the power amplifier. The reason the radio is staying on is likely it takes less power without the antenna connected. While examining the radio, double check your antenna connections and coax.

Best regards.

Get rid of roger beep

This seems to be true for Uniden and Motorola 2-way radios, might work for your cobras;

turn off the radio
push down on the channle up button
while holding the button, turn on the radio
once the radio is completely booted up, you can release the ch up button

Let me know if it works either way!

One of my model T5620 Talk About radios has suddenly lost the "signal" icon and it " button is pressed. The battery icon indicates that the battery is fully charged. Can you help? Thank you.

to me it seems someone sat on it. Your keyboard might be fried or may be still alive. You need to push each and every key forcely and release in flash or you may need to open it up and then check the status. The keyboard is the prob as of now.

Cx80 stuck in rx mode , power cycled, swapped batteries, changed channels, will only swtich to tx when ptt button pressed, otherwise always in rx mode, other radio from package works fine

But thats how a walkie talkie works, it stays in Receive Rx mode UNTIL you press the PTT button,, then it Transmits Tx, and when released it goes back to Rx, receive?

Unit will not stay on. With new batteries installed, the unit turns on while power button is held down. It immediately turns off when power button is released. The batteries have never lasted long.

If using rechargeable batteries, your batteries are not getting charged. Check your charger, battery contacts and batteries. Clean contacts with a pencil eraser.

If using alkaline batteries, check placement of the batteries to be certain they are in the correct way, and also, clean the battery contacts.

In most Motorola T5XXX series/models, pressing the + button while powering on enables/disables the roger beep (release of PTT button).

Good luck and kind regards.
