Question about Frigidaire FEQ332E Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Motor is working but not starting by himself

When turning the start button we get an "alert buzz" and if i give a push to the drum the motor start.

Ive remove the drum and the motor seems fine. I think its something with the starting phase of the motor.

The exact same problem is happening with ours.
I'll explain it better: with the door closed, a buzzing sound is heard when the start knob is turned, but the drum does not turn. If I open the door, hold down the door button with one finger (so the unit believes that the door is actually closed), then turn the start button, and at the same time give the drum a push in the correct direction, the drum begins to turn and the heating coils come on.

My dryer initially makes a buzzing sound and will not begin the cycle until I give it a few turns manually...

you have a bad motor,if you open the door, hold the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with the other and have someone else push the start button on and if by helping it to spin it starts usually the motor is bad but i did find on the maytag neptune style dryer that the belt cut into the belt pulley and was holding up the drum and the motor was buzzing like it was bad but like i say usually it's the motor.next time send the brand name and model number and i can help you out better.

A buzz sound when pushing start

That is a bad sign. If the buzzing starts when you press the start button and stops when you release its almost safe to say that the motor has a dead short or grounded out and causing that to happen. You can check the start switch by getting a multimeter and with the dryer unplugged take the wires off the switch, place a lead on each pin and press the start with meter set for continuity. If it shows continuity when presed and stops when released your motor is shot and needs to be replaced.
Now if you press the start button and the machine starts to hum and continues to hum its possible that something has gotten caught in the blower wheel and binding the motor up. Depending on the make and model the location and access to it vaaries.
If you can turn the drum and then the dryer starts you have a bad motor. The way the dryer works is when you initially push the start button, electricity is sent to the start winding, or stator, of the motor. This will in turn start the motor turning. From there the stator will drop out of the electrical process and at the same time the run winding, or rotor, will take over and the motor will continie to run. Your stator is damaged, has a burn spot, etc so by you turning the drum, the belt around the drum is moved which is attached to the motor pulley. You basically take the place of the stator. Long story short, you have a bad motor.

Dryer buzzes but won't start

see the diagram :
1) O.k if the thermostat 2) Thermofuse is o.k is good resultant BUT please 3) Test the door switch for open or defective , if the remain open the motor will NOT START. see the diagram. 4) After changing the switch if the problem remain the same the motor is faulty( centrifugal swithc, etc) need repair or replace. 5) Test the push button start for diryt or open, test the wires for loose, broke, or burn wires too.

God bless you

Drum wont turn.pust start and hear a buzz but drun wont turn

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

GE dryer model DDE8200GALAD was working fine. After removing a load and trying to dry another, after inserting the load and shutting the door when you turn the timer to start it before pushing the start...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

When i push the start button the dryer buzzes like it wants to turn on but does not start turning. then it stops buzzing when i release the start button.

SOUNDS LIKE A MOTOR WINDING. GRAB A HELPER TO PUSH TO BUTTON WHILE YOU HOLD THE DOOR SWICH IN AND TURN THE DRUM SEE IF IT STARTS THEN. YOU MAY NEED A MOTOR.
