Travelmate will not boot up

Hello all, My travelmate will not power on. The power light icon is blinking, but I can't get anything on the screen or boot into Windows. I have removed and reinserted the battery and held the power button down for a hard shutdown but I still can't get the table to boot normally. Help

Re: Travelmate will not boot up

I had the same exact problem with my Acer Travelmate, with NO help from Acer support. After about a year of messing with it periodically, trying this and that, I finally figured out there is a bad connection on the motherboard, and it will only power on if you press down gently on the area over the bad connection when hitting the power button. My bad connection was located about an inch and a half below the power button, which is on the right side... works great to start it up now, but if you move or jostle the system it loses connection and shuts off again. Basically you have to do the "trick" to turn it on, and then never move it again while it's on, basically making it useless as a laptop. It's now stationary like a desktop, but at least it's working. I hope that helps... I will never buy an Acer again because I've noted on several sites that people are having the same problem, so Acer MUST be aware of it, and they wouldn't give any help whatsoever.

Re: Travelmate will not boot up

It sounds like you may need to take the machine to a professional to assist with recovering your data. You say won't power on..but the green light is on..that is some power. Does any form of type come on the screen at any point for any length of time? i.e. The video card info. the P.O.S.T. screen? Let me know some more details. Tim

Hi I have an Acer Travelmate 6492 first I wanted to reset it to factory settings I could not manage that & now it is not booting it's just flashing on top

Seems like your hard disk is not getting detected.
Press the power button and hold it down for 20 seconds(without the battery or adapter plugged in to it). This process is called POWER DRAIN.
Start tapping the DEL key as soon as you power on the computer.
This will take you to the BIOS screen.
If it doesn't, you will have to check whether your hard disk is faulty with a local technician.

Once you get in to the BIOS screen, press F9 to load the default settings.
Than press F10 to save and exit.
Once you do this, the computer will restart.

Hope this helps.

The laptop would not boot up. It was hooked up to an external screen and then a few hours later, there was nothing on the screen. It wont boot up into a POST screen

Dead Laptop?

Try firstly removing the laptop's battery as it may be at a critical voltage and the system will not start because of it. Plug in your ac adaptor and monitor what happens. Does the power light illuminate? If it does it should then boot up, if it doesn't, try a known good ac adaptor before going any further.
If the adaptor is fine then you have a mother board fault and should contact a dealer/repairer for further advice.
Hope this helps.

I just bought a 2nd hand acer travelmate c110 and does not have anything so i installed a windows xp service pack 2. my question is i cannot use the touch screen is there any driver for it?

Go on acer's website and look for that particular model where you will get a list of downloads available for this model. You should be able to find the driver for this touchscreen and install it.If this does not work then you may have a hardware fault.

Hi, does your laptop tuns off as soon as booting is finished and the main screen is on? If yes then your system is infected by some virus becoz i was also suffering from same problem few months back.I purchased a new antivirus "kaspersky" and my problem was solved.

It no longer turns on and boots up

If after powering it on there is black screen and green light is flashing (the one for wireless/bluetooh) probably there is something wrong with the motherboard. If the laptop starts up to a moment when messages on a screen appear it means that all various components may malfunction (such as RAM memory, Hard Drive, graphic card, etc) .
