Canon PowerShot A590 IS problem downloading images to a windows vista machine

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Initial download

hi there

wow. you will need a software that detects pictures for that. initially, hp have there own software for their own camera. but since you are not Hp... you can use Picasa 2 for that.

picasa 2 is a programs specifically for pictures and video and it can even detect vids and pics form your camera and you can save it towards your computer.

you can download picasa 2 @ majorgeeks.com

hope this helps and thanks for using fixya.

When I try to download pictures from my Canon A520 camera to my computer, I get a message saying the computer can't detect my camera. The software is loaded. The camera is in play mode. In the past I...

Most likely the software has corrupted. To eliminate this possibility, uninstall the software, reboot your computer and then reinstall it.

If this fails then please add a comment and we'll go through further options.

One other option is to simply use an external memory card reader and bypass the Canon software altogether. You'll also find that uploads are far quicker using this method.

Cant download pictures to my hp laptop

Uninstall the Canon software, and then reinstall it. You may want to get the latest version of the software from Canon.com. You can also take out the SD card and put it into the SD card slot on your computer. If your computer does not have an SD card reader, you can buy one from less than $20.

My computer will not detect my camera when connected.

Suggest with the camera disconnected from the computer, you uninstall, then reinstall the Canon software. (Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, or Start>All Programs>Canon>Uninstall) Windows is a 'funny animal', and drivers need to be occasionally reinstalled.

Computer cannot detect camera at all!

This works for Windows98

1. Uninstall the Canon camera software.
2. Search for "Canon" in the registry. Delete ALL references associated with Canon camera in the registry. Just uninstalling the software will not work. Do not delete any other references to Canon products (printers, etc).
3. Re-install the Canon camera software.

I've had to do this several times. Works every time.
