Question about APC (BH500NET) UPS System
We use MANY APC 500 UPS's (Each PC) approxiamately 150 at work has one.
We do generator checks once per week and the UPS's help keep PC's up as electrical load switches from electric company load to generator power and then back after 15 mins.
We have constant UPS failures. Many can be corrected by replacing the batteries.
I have noticed most of the time when the replacement battery doesn't fix it, the followign observation:
I place a small home 3 prong electrical outlet tester in the Battery backed up outlet and with the UPS ON and plugged in the tester reads FINE (two orange lights on and red light is off).
On bad units when electrical source is killed, the tester has one orange light go out or dim indicating (according to tester) that the Ground is open.
Any idea what is typical failure or failed item inside I could replace?
I plan to take one and TEAR it apart down to the component level looking for bad failed components to try to repair others vs. throwing them away.
We will not trade them in on new units.
I would recommend replacing APC UPSs with ONEAC ONEPlus Power Conditioned UPSs, which have a perfect ground reference, longer lasting and more reliable batteries, and a 5 Year Warranty (2 Yrs on Batteries).
