    Thanks Arius,

Your method was alot easier than Dell telling me to remove batteries and hard drives. I just made sure I had no static in my body and everything works like a charm.

    Thanks again

This is usually a snap on plate you can check if you can find the edge. usually you need to remove first the top plate in order to get to the keyboard, this is a plastic that you need to twist up a bit on both ends ( on the top of the F1- to - F12 commands) then once you have removed this top plate you can have acces to the keyboard, either it is screwed or fastened only
it is not difficult, cheers

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Dell latitude d800 not switching on ?

I may have addressed this question earlier. If your Dell shows absolutely no sign of life... no LEDs, no nothing and you know for certain the battery and/or power adapter is good then...

If you have access to a docking station (ANY Dell dock that will mate with the bottom connector on your D800), put the D800 in the dock and use the power button on the docking station.

If the laptop powers up, you may have a simply problem with the laptop "Press to turn on" button.

ABOVE THE LAPTOP KEYBOARD...
Use a small flat screwdriver blade to remove the Center Control Cover (just beneath the display/cover hinge and above the F1-F12 keys). Locate the cover's flat ribbon cable connector above the Page Up key. Pull off and carefully reinstall. Try the power button now. If it works, put everything back together. Otherwise seek profession help.

I Have a Dell Latitude D800 and it's plugged into power. when i hit the start button it lights up a couple of lights on the keyboard, they go out after a couple of seconds and then nothing happens?

Is the battery charging? and is the power adaptor properly plugged in? If yes then it's probably a faulty PSU and you will need to phone DELL for a replacement/repair.

CAn you please tell me how to switch off the 'mouse' on the computer itself. I know I am supposed to press the "funtion key" and another one in the top two rows, but I am not sure which one. Is it the key...

if im not wrong....its Fn+F7.........
you will find a finger symbol in that key....you need to press Fn and F7 together....it it doesnt works then press F7 alone....

I had this problem and it was solved by turning off the touchpad in the bios,

Pressing the f10 ? or f2 ? during startup will get you into the bios

The mouse on my dell keyboard has a mind of its own, can i fix or disable it

Go to
http://driverscollection.com/?H=Latitude%20D800&By=Dell
and download and install the driver for the touchpad. If that does not solve your problem then use a USB mouse and forget about having the touchpad.

My daughters Dell d800 ..mouse problem

Boy, It's been awhile since I took mine apart, but rest assured, all Dells come apart with ease, so try and assemble again but watch carefully that ribbon cables are secure! I would just reassemble or plug in and test before the case is assembled. Dell motherboards work fine without a case for testing

Beep noise during booting and no keyboard response

Sounds like the key is stuck. You will have to remove the keypad to check the switch underneath.

Help!

Remove the keyboard:

Reseat all connections and then restart -- see if that solves the problem, if not, connect an external mouse via usb to it -- go to your control panel > system > hardware > device manager, report back with what you see.
