Question about Projection Televisions

According to Time Warner cable I no longer have TV Guide On Screen because the PBS piggy back signal is no longer being sent. Apparently, PBS is getting ready for HDTV. I live in Wilmington NC and we went digital in Sept 08. Can you verify any of this or offer a solution?

PBS in my area says that my cable provider, Time Warner is no longer using the analog signal that contains TV Guide On Screen info. They did this to prepare for digital in Feb. Time Warner says they are waiting for Gemstar/Macrovision to provide a method for the On Screen feature to work. My source at PBS reckons there are over 25,000 cable card TV's that may lose this On Screen Guide. Apparently there is no legal requirement for TV Guide or your cable provider to send the guide.
Users may want to try and contact TV-Guide/Gemstar/Macrovision directly at their toll free number
1-800-386-7380. This may not be a solution but it may be a consolation for users wanting to know why they have lost their TV Guide On -Screen.

Hello. power up the system and then push the input button on your TV remote. A list should pop up on your screen which shows all of the possible ways to input the signal into the tv. click on one after another until you see the cable program. That's it. Regards, Joe.

this same problem was on my grandma's television once she got a cable box recently. she has time warner cable. we called time warner and explained this to them, and they said it was something with the update.. and the lady said you can reset the box, but it is best for the cable company to reboot the cable box. within a matter of minutes, the company reset her box and the numbers were no longer an issue. so it's just a matter of resetting your cable.

I purchased a SANYO-DP46848 42"HDTV. I have a Cable box and my cable provider (Time Warner Cable) provides free HD Channels. However.... I CANNOT PICKUP ANY HD CHANNELS ON THE NEW TV. WHY???...

I just got the same exact one, when it searches automatically the first time it doesn't look for digital channels. go to Menu>manual channel search>cable. it will look for all possible signals and will take forever probably. the free digital channels will take several seconds to switch channel to channel, but they're there! They will show up on your screen as "DC 91-2" or similar. you can switch back to regular cable channels with the input button, you just cycle through all the inputs. hope that helps.

The tv is fine.We see so many problems with cable provided signal that it isn't funny. It usually stems from bad cable boxes and low signal coming into the house.

Shifted Picture

Yes. This problem comes about by actually pressing the center ring accidentally during normal viewing. Just press and hold the left or right side of the ring until the pciture straightens itself out again (if the black portion of the screen is to the right of the picture, press the right ring; if it is to the left side, press the left ring).

try connecting the box to a different input
also try connecting another device (like a VCR) in place of the box to see if the problem exists without the cable box

does the tv use Svideo as an input from whatever device you're using on the main screen? if so , try changing out the cable for a new one, svideo carries 2 signals, color and brightness (ie color and black signals) if your cable is bad or broken, you may only be getting one of those signals ( the black one) try a new cable if it's s-video. if it's not, get back to us.
