SOURCE: HOW TO REST IOMEGA IP

I'm not sure if you are saying to reset the IP of your device or not. But if you are asking how to reset the IP of your device. You can't. You device would have to have network capabilities which this drive does not. It's a desktop hard drive, not a NAS.

The following may help:

You can either use the management software: Iomega Discovery Tool Home : Read First
or
Instructions to Direct Connect to NAS:
Unplug the NAS from the router
Unplug the pc from the router (if the pc is wireless, disable wireless)
Using Ethernet Cable, plug the NAS directly into the pc with no other devices attached.
Restart the NAS and wait for it to boot COMPLETELY 100%
The NAS will request an address from the PC which will be an APIPA address (this is a 169. address)
Open up your Start Menu and type in CMD in the search bar and select the CMD program.
Type in "arp -a" in the cmd prompt
The first time you use the arp -a in a cmd prompt, it gives you the 169.x.x.x address of "The PC"
You may have to arp -a twice to get the NAS address.
The second time you use the arp -a I will get another APIPA address in the 169.x.x.x address
Take the new address and use it in the web browser just like normal to access the device

How to change my ditto mac address

The following procedure worked for me :

To change the MAC address of a Dane-Elec MyDitto Classic NAS, use the flash memory configuration hidden page :

http://(ip of your my-ditto)/flash.asp

- Enter the right MAC address (which is written on a sticker, under your my-ditto NAS... something like "001F1Fxxxxxx") in the field "NIC0 address:".
- Click the "Save settings" button. (The same page reloads, with empty fields : ignore it).
- Restart your my-ditto NAS (with the power switch).

After booting, the power led should stop blinking (stay lit), and your NAS should be available through PC client software (master/user usb keys) again.

If the problem remains or reappears (dummy MAC address again), the culprit could be the CR2032 lithium backup battery inside your my-ditto. In my 2-year-old NAS, this battery was too low (2.1V instead of expected 3V). To replace this battery on its socket, you have to open your NAS (voiding the warranty).

Good luck...Hope this helps someone !

How to access my WD ebook locally to store information??

Try and map it, by right clicking on 'my computer' and select 'map network drive'. In the folder option type: \\**ip address**\public (where **ipa address** needs to be the ip address assigned by your router or one of the 2 default names: mybookworld or wdstorage. If you have previously changed to name of the NAS drive, use the name you assigned.

My Vista machine can't see the iomega network drive

You need to connect to the IOmega drive using windows xp and add a user.
In the explorer view in Vista at the top click on Map Network Drive.
At the bottom click "Connect using a different username" and enter the credentials that you created earlier.
In the box above for the location type in "\\IOmega's IP Address\Folder that you want to map".
Click on connect at the bottom should be done straight away and then you should be able to see it in "Network Places" as well. Let me know if this fixes the problem or not.

Can't find the IP address of the Maxtor Shared storeage II drive.

Download and install Wireshark(www.wireshark.org) on your PC. Attach the storage box and your PC and nothing else to a switch. Start a capture and you'll start to see all of the packets that your PC sees on its network interface. They will include a column for source address. The one that doesn't match your PC has to be the storage box.

If this doesn't help, connect the two devices directly together(you'll need a crossover cable if your PC NIC doesn't support MDIX and try the Wireshark capture again - this WILL work. The first option is dependent on the storage box sending out some sort of broadcast packets which is likely but not certain.

Stored static ip address in nas server and cant

I have a similar problem. There is a reset pinhole switch just beneath where the Ethernet port is that if you push it is supposed to reset the drives name and switch it to DHCP. You can see this in the manual. Unfortunately, this hasn't worked for me and I'm working through another solution to see if I can find the IP it is attached to.
