Fuse blows when I key the microphone. Why does this happen?

I have a galaxy 88 and almost every time I key the mic the fuse blows. I had somebody do some work to it a long time ago so that it put more power out. I had no problems for about two years but then it started blowing fuses so I just stopped using it.

I am pretty sure something came loose or a connection went bad, now something is shorting, possibly to the chassis. if you think you know how to open it up and work on it than do it. Or take it to a tech and have them look at it. it should be a real quick, real simple fix.

How do i set my galaxy dx 88 hl so the talkback is on all the time

turn the talkback knob to the right and push it in to engage talkback.when you get the volume you want leave it alone .Now key the mic.You will probably hear a squeal coming from the speaker. Now turn the volume down on the talkback knob until the squeal goes away.If you run your RF gain wide open it may squeal also.

2547 when turn on has a squeel thru the speaker in recieve mode

hi iff you remove the mic does this squeel disapear ,if so i recomend that you open mic casing and check for any lose strands of wire that could be shortening out ive seen this happen so many times with microphones you can get some switch oil and apply sparingly to switch this will also help in the long run ,,,,,goodluck with it

Galaxy dx99v, bad squeal when I key the mic

Your microphone wires may be shorted take the mic plug apart (small screws) Now check for frayed wires touching or twisted together!
With the wires being resolderd or taped apart put back together
with the U pointing downward you shout have :
Right corner bottom Sheild ground!
Left corner bottom Black recive
Right corner top White or yellow this is Audio wire
Left corner top RED Transmit or PTT wire

If wiring looks good the problem is in the Mic take to servicer!

I have a stock 88 and i was woundering if i could run a power mic on it and i was woundering how much for a tune up and a mod kit added to her

Yes you can add a Power Mic but do not expect a lot of positive gain from it as the Galaxy already has a Power Mic Circuit inside the radio and you will only be duplicating it at best, more that likely overdriving it. A good quality microphone like a Shure Controlled Magnetic would be a better choice. A tune upi will help emincely as these radios are mass produced and are not peaked to preformance like asuper tune will do both improving both the transmit and the recieve. Yes the Mod Kits help a lot if they are both the right ones and they are professionally installed and aligned. You can call 706 270 39829 they can help you as they are Galaxy / Ranger Experts.
