Husqvarna 353 keeps throwing the chain

The chain keeps coming off the bar of my Husqvarna 353. I check for proper chain tension, tighten the bar nuts adequately. I even tried a new chain and bar with the same result. When the chain comes off, the bar hasn't moved such that the chain will simply roll back on, it must be loosened.

SOURCE: My Husqvarna 16 in chainsaw is no longer working.

Did the chain come off while at speed? The chain catcher causes burrs to form on the drive links when occurs. Without the catcher the spinning sharp chain contacts your leg. Were you wearing chaps? We don't need no stinking PPE!!!
Use a flat file on the drive link flats to remove the burrs.
34be72d.jpg 5ab118d.gif Chain Adjustment

  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They don't need these really loose - finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system. HTH

SOURCE: i have a 235e husqvarna with tool-less chain

Any weekday between 1300 and 1600, stop by McNasties, buy 2 premium coffees (one black). Continue on to your friendly neighborhood Husky dealer (leave the saw in the car) and present him with the coffee. Discuss the problem you are having and ask for his help. It appears to be possible to replace the tool-less setup with the tried and true version. I estimate $20-30. Probably less than repair cost for your current arrangement.

SOURCE: I have a Husqvarna 345 with a 18" bar. I worked

This machine has a geared side adjust tensinor, i woud say the gear system may have striped, remove the clutch and drum, remove the allen screw securing the silver bar protector plate, the adjuster will now just lift away complete, check its function, replace if required, check the oiler is working, hold the saw over some cardboard, rev the engine and check to see if there is a good oil spray onto the card.

Why does the chain keeps tightening

Has it ever come off while using it? If so, there may be burrs on the drive teeth making the chain wider than the bar opening, also if there is no oil getting to chain while operating chain could bind from heat, check sprocket on the bar tip for blockage and inspect the clutch bearing.

Chain wont tighten up

Jeff:
Loosen the two nuts on the right side cover of the saw (1/2 inch socket) turn them out 2 turns. Use a flat blade screwdriver on the screw at the right side front of the housing (near where the bar comes out of the saw). Turn the screw right until the chain can only be pulled up 1/8 of an inch at the top center of the bar. tighten the two 1/2 inch nuts. The two nuts clamp the bar so it won't move. If the chain tensioner still won't work, remove the right side housing by removing the two 1/2 inch nuts and look at the tensioner assembly and how it fits into the chain bar. The problem will be obvious. If you need to replace the tensioner assembly, a new one can be ordered through http://www.husqvarna.com.

Chain tensioner screw keeps breaking on husqvarna 455 rancher

The tensioner should only move the bar when the retaining nut/nuts are loosened, once the nut/nuts are tightened there should be no pressure on the tensioner, so the nut/nuts are not tight enough.

THE CHAIN SLIPPED OFF HOW DO YOU GET IT BACK ON 14 IN HUSQVARNA

There's two 1/2 inch nuts on the side of the cover from which the bar protrudes.
Remove these nuts and the cover -- leave the bar loosely in place.
Look for a slot-head chain-tensioning screw (may be on front under the bar, or perhaps on the side).
Turn this tensioning screw counter clockwise -- you will notice a pin moving back towards the drive clutch -- this pin fits into a hole on the bar and is used to set the chain tension by pushing the bar away from the drive clutch.
Once it is loosened, the bar can be pulled closer to the drive clutch, allowing you to fit the chain back onto the bar -- be careful to align the drive teeth on the chain into the slots on the drive clutch.
When the chain is back in place, turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten the chain onto the bar.
Replace the cover and put the nuts back on only finger-tight.
Tighten the chain some more using the tensioning screw.
Tighten the 1/2 inch nuts fully.
Note: The chain needs to be quite tight -- lift it by a link and be sure it does not come out all the way from the bar.

Tighten chain?

Depending on the model, you adjust the chain tension using the screw that is located either between or below the two nuts that hold the sprocket/bar/chain cover. Loosen the nuts and turn the screw clockwise to tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen. Once you have the tension set, lift up on the bar from underneath and tighten the two nuts. Proper tension should show about half of the chain drive, and should only be done when cold. After 4 to 5 minutes of run time, stop the saw and check the tension again. A little heat in the bar/chain will cause it to loosen up. It will need re-adjusting.

How do you adjust the chain tension on a husqvarna 350 chainsaw ?

I don't own a 360, but most saws you have to loosen the two nuts that hold the bar on, and adjust the adjusting screw that points toward the front of the saw while holding up on the tip of the bar. Tighten until the chain is snug, but still loose enough to be able to spin the chain on the bar.

Chain keep coming off when i start to run it

Chain adjustment
  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the nuts that are clamping the guide bar in place (or whatever your saw uses to hold the side plate and bar on with). We don't need these really loose - just finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. Now, while holding the nose up, adjust the tension so that the chain just touches the underside of the bar.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the side plate nuts / bolts / quick-release system.

How do you loosen the chain on a chainsaw husqvarna 136?

Hi there. On the outer bar cover near the motor you will find 2 nuts. Slightly loosen those two nuts. Then check around the these nuts or near where the bar attaches to the powerrhead at the front of the saw. You should find an adjustment screw of some sort, which will be the chain tensioning screw (which moves the bar forward/back depending on which way it is turned). This has the effect of either tightening or loosening the chain, so turn this screw noting whether the chain is tightening or becoming loose.

You must slightly undo those 2 main nuts on the side of the chain/bar cover first or the bar will not move and the chain cannot be loosened.
