Re: rca tv no picture
You can turn up Screen control in back of set on the High Voltage Transformer and see if you see anything like a thin white line going across screen. If this is happening then it's your vertical IC output gone. It will have to be changed and a 100uf@50v cap in the same area.

The High voltage Horizontal output transistor is dead. That the transistor sit outside of the wall of the FBT-flyback tranformer is a black block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT-(tv tube) U have soldering iron,a roll of solders and know basic electronic. The "H" trasistor replaced that and resolders the FBT-flyback transformer, should solved this problems.
All the reports are showing the same problem the TV is in shutdown mode.
Something is wrong and it is refusing to start it makes a chirping or clicking sound. Solution is that it needs to be repaired nothing you can do unless you want to try replacing the motherboard yourself.
if tv have black screen, increse screen control to see vert ic is defective, and if screen is white with lots of line acrose ,you can find open resister,on pic tube board,or in main board near transformer.
Nothing special about that board as I cant seem to find that # but If my memory serves me correctly it sounds like a crt board and its a simple soldering job on the crt socket?? Altough Im not there to see the set still 550.00 seems like an awfull lot to repair a set even if they have to replace the entire chassis. I think you should cal rca and take it to an authorized RCA repair center and if the shop you took it to was an rca authorized center I would also report that to them(RCA). Good Luck
