You need to go into control panel and open up printers....should give you a list of all the printers you have installed....if you've got a printer installed right click on its icon and choose set as default...(if you've haven't got one installed.. install one) then you're good to go.....reason your getting output file question is that your default printer is set to microsoft office document image writer or similar ....

Cannot print PDF, pop up asks to print to file and enter an Output File Name

If you have a virtual printer (PDF printer like BullZip, PDFPrint, or something else) maybe it is your default printer and when you chose the option "print" you need to choose the the right printer (in your situation HP Officejet Pro L7780 )
Good luck.

Since yesterday I am unable to print documents that open in Adobe format, although was able to do that before. Now when I click on "Print" button, the pop-up window tells me to Print to File and Output...

Instead of click the Print button go to File menu, then Print, and THEN select your printer.

It seems you don´t have your printer set as default.

Let me know if it worked before leaving negative feedback. So we can still try.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Thank you

What is print to file? What is output file name?

It is windows way of storing a document for printing later.

It will save the job you want to print at another time but ask you for a file name so that you can give it a name you will remember.

It will do this if it is set as the DEFAULT printer.

To change that and provided you have a printer installed then go to CONTROL PANEL / printers and faxes / then right click on the printer you want as the default and on the box that opens will be that exact option, click it and you are done. it wont ask you those questions again.

Can't print a pdf file

Sounds like you are using the PDF printer as your selected printer - this is for creating PDF files in which case you would give it a name.
If you have a PDF file open, simply select your printer (1610) as the printer to print to as with any other documents you print.

Does not print. Asks for output file instead.

Hi,

The default printer is set to be "file". Here's what you must do:

- Go to printers dialogue box and right click on your printer name and selectd "Set s default printer"
 - Right click on printers name and chose Properties. then look for a check box saing something like "print to file" and unchek it.

This sould resolve the problem.
Best regards

Its keeps asking for my output file name when i go to print.what is a output file name ?

Sounds like whatever your printing to is set for print to file or your default printer has changed.

Go into the control panel, select printers, select the printer that you want to use and press the right mouse buttons for properties.

Select the ports tab and make sure that the file box isn't checked and that the USB port is (or whatever port your printing with).

Press ok

Make sure that you printer is set for default printer.
