Remote control SENSOR not working

Remote control functions on other Toshiba sets. The TV works well, but only the on-set buttons will control it. Nothing is obstructing the sensor and it lights up when the set is manually turned on.

I have a similar problem. My remote works intermittently  with my Toshiba tv. It works fine with other tvs and our dvd.

Can someone post a response to this problem that actually answers the question? I have the exact! same problem, and as w2ith the original poster, the REMOTE is fine. The original poster's remote works fine on other toshiba TV's, and I can get my mom's remote (the toshiba TV is hers) remote to work with the Sony VCR in my room. Even though i can't get the toshiba remote to work with the panasonic VCR that's hooked up to my mom's toshiba (it must be using a code that's not listed in the toshiba TV's manual), the remote DOES work on MY VCR. So I'm guessing our problem is with the receiver in the TV itself. Is that hard to replace? could we do it yourselves? Or do we have to take it into a shop?

This could be a fault with your remote control. It will need checking by a Television Technician.

You can clean the remote control yourself if you are careful. You will need a spray can of Servisol IPA 170.

  • Carefully split the remote control unit along the seal between the top and bottom of the unit.
  • Carefully notice how you then dismantle the inner components. (I lay the components out in the order I take them out of the unit).
  • In a logical order spray, clean and dry each part.
  • When you have cleaned all the components, reassemble in their reverse order of the way you dismantled the unit.
  • Fit new batteries and test the remote control.
If this fails to solve the problem, you will have to take the remote control to a Television Technician for testing.

If the remote is found to be beyond repair, visit www.semenedis.com who may be able to supply you with a replacement remote control. I trust this information will be of help to you.

Toshiba tv 32a43 changes input by itself

I will try to explain this: I first presume there is a physical button on the set for the input options.

I have seen this a lot:
Not the plastic button on the set but the tiny push switch behind it.
These are called momentary switches as only should function when the plastic button is pressed and contacts the momentary switch.

They go bad, and will internally engage without be touched.

The simple way to prove/disprove this is to open the set and get at that switch which usually is soldered into a small circuit board--two pins for the switch and maybe two more tabs for mounting.

If individual switches unsolder and REMOVE THE INPUT SWITCH (the one under the plastic button on the set)

Set should now operate normally and remote should have same feature on it. If it works you do not have to replace anything.

FYI: the reason the remote may not be working is the buttons on the set have PRIORITY over the remote.

Both the remote and the buttons go to the same area inside the set but buttons are #1 in line.

Hello
It will be best for you to buy its original remote control. Universal remotes may also work with it, but some functions may not work properly. You can buy it from the Authorised Service Center for Toshiba at your town. Just give them the exact model number of you TV set [which can be noted at its back side]. They will give you the exact original one.

RCA RCR 311B model universal remote have setup codes for Toshiba. You may also try this remote. The codes are:
1047, 1071, 1103, 1105, 1108, 1159, 1163, 1178, 1188, 1190, 1191, 1196, 1211
I strongly advice you to buy its original one. OK.

Need the code to set the technika remote to ma toshiba telly

Maybe you could try the auto-set. Found this using google:
Auto code search

1. switch on the TV and select a channel eg. Bbc1 on the TV itself
2. press the appropriate device button eg. TV
3. press the green SET button for approx 5 seconds until the red light comes on.
4. release the green SET button and point the remote at the device to be controlled, the remote will emit a test signal about every 2 seconds.
5. when the TV switches itself off briefly press the green SET button to store the code found.
6. when the red light goes out the search is ended.
7. try out the remote if it works follow the same steps to set it to other devices eg. DVD. If it does not work follow the steps again.
cover other remote sensors on other devices when setting the remote.

Toshiba CF32H50-no control from remote

Could be the remote does not operate on the correct frequency, but also may be the IR reciever sensor inside the TV, best bet is to bring your remote to a pawn shop and try it on a set there (they sell older model sets look till you find one like yours). once you determine the remote is OK, check the IR sensor for bad solder connection or replace it by soldering a new one in. Also some Toshibas develop micro CPU issue (the computer IC), another thing you can try is cleaning the main board control area with electrical cleaner residue can load down the control circuits but then the buttons would also malfunction.

Our daughter gave us a Toshiba TV and remote. We plug in the TV and hook up the cable, and try to turn on the TV but nothing happens. We can turn on the TV with the TV button, and it works fine, but we would...

If the remote is the original Toshiba remote, it obviously should work the TV. Have you checked to make sure it has good batteries? Also, if old batteries leaked in it at any time there may be corrosion on the battery contacts keeping it from working. Make sure the metal contacts look shiny, not crusty and corroded.

If the remote still doesn't work there are two possibilities. One is that the remote is just bad. You can get a universal remote, set it for Toshiba and try it. It will at least control power, channel and volume functions. If the universal remote doesn't work, the remote sensor in the TV would be the probable cause. Like any other part, they can sometimes fail.

Remote won't communicate with television

The sensor for these Panasonic tvs along with certain Toshiba models tend to have the problem with the sets sensor going out. But if you are using a universal remote because you do not have the original, then most likely you will need to use the vcr control codes to program the tv. but if the original doesnt work either. your insticts are probably right. There is one last trick if you do have the original remote that u can try. I've had this work for me several times on service calls. With the batteries removed. Press every single button on the remote once. make sure you do this nice and slow making sure you are pressing the button down . if its a toggle button or rocker button like most volume or channel up down buttons(meanning that physically the is one button but depending on what part of button you press it does something differemt) well treat these as seperate buttons. Also if the remote has any switches on it. Like vcr/tv switch or vcr 1 vcr 2 etc. Then switch to other position and repeat the process of pressing all buttons once again. (remote does not have too be pointed at tv for obvious reasons) Now replace the batteries and have fingers crossed. Good luck.

Parental lock

Child Lock

Combos
--Should have original remote. Press and hold the power button for 6 to 10 seconds

Combo Model T25208, V-Chip Forgotten Password
If you forget your password, simultaneously press VOLUME down on the TV/VCR front panel and the 0 number button on the remote for a few seconds. This resets the password and you can enter a new one.

Combo Model 13TVR62, V-Chip Forgotten Password
If you forget your password, press STOP/EJECT on the TV/VCR front panel and MENU on the remote simultaneously. This resets the password, but not the limits you’ve set.
Televisions with Parental Lock Feature

If you forgot your password for this feature, press the following buttons on the remote, one at a time. (Note: You must be in the password entry screen) Press, Mute, Display,Clear and Reset, this unlocks parental controls and you can now re-enter a new password.
OR TRY THIS..
Press and hold Menu on the TV AND volume down on the remote for 3 seconds. Nothing will appear on the screen, and the Parental Controls will unlock, and you can re-enter a new password with the LOCK PARENTAL CONTROLS

CTC169AU
Channels that have been locked can be viewed only when the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to OFF. This can only be done with the remote control-it can not be changed with the buttons on the front of the TV.

Therefore, after you turn on PARENTAL CTRL, you simply hide the remote control so that your children can not watch the locked channels. The locked-out channels will remain unviewable even if the TV is unplugged or the channels are autoprogrammed again. The only way to view locked channels is to use the supplied remote control to set the PARENTAL CTRL function to OFF.

The PARENTAL CTRL and the CHAN CTRL functions work hand-in-hand. The instructions below will first tell you how to turn parental control on or off with the PARENTAL CTRL function and then how to lock desired channels with the CHAN CTRL function.
1. Repeatedly press MENU to select SETUP MENU, and then press + or - to display setup functions. Repeatedly press MENU to select the PARENTAL CTRL function. . When this function is set to ON, PARENTAL CTRL is activated and any channels you locked with the CHAN CTRL function will not be viewable. . When this function is set to OFF, PARENTAL CTRL is deactivated and all channels are viewable.

2. To lock channels, press the MENU button to select the CHAN CTRL function. Select a channel you want to lock by pressing CHANNEL up or down. Then press +. The CHAN CTRL setting will change from NORMAL to LOCKED when that channel is locked. To return the channel to NORMAL, press the - button. Repeat step 2 for each channel you want to lock. If the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to ON while you are locking out channels, each channel will go blank as you lock it. When the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to ON and a channel which has been locked out is tuned, the TV will display the words PARENTAL CONTROL to let your kids know you have locked it.

CTC185's
If the front panel function buttons don't work, (menu, ch up/dn etc.) but the functions work normal with the remote, enter the "Channel" menu with the remote and turn "Parental Control" off.

CTC203's
In the event you have forgotten your password, perform the following procedure:
Press and hold for 3 seconds the TV button on the remote while pressing the menu button on the TV.
This procedure will turn off the parental lock and erase the previous password .

Another Possibility To Try For Various Models: If TV's in the Parental mode and askes for a password that's forgotten, Press menu on the TV, select Parental Lock #4 on menu, then with the remote press Mute, Display, Clear, and Reset buttons in sequence.

TX808 Chassis
If Parental Controls have been set and you don't know the password, do this:
Press and hold the volume down and the channel up buttons at the same time for 5 seconds.
Now you can reset the password to 0000, and using that password you can now access the V-Chip menus.

TV's (Made by Daewoo or possibly Apex, ie. GE model 24GP653)
The factory default pass code of 6688 is also the override code, in case the owner forgets their pass code. If that doesn't work, another place in the owners manual says to push Function and Mute on the remote at the same time. Function is the top right button.

Remote Won't Work! Problem with TV remote receptor?

Try unplugging the set for 12 to 24 hours. if that does not work, theres a problem in the remote sensor circuit or the microprocessor circuit. its going to need a pro to fix it as it meeds trouble shooting.

Remote signals

If you tryed a universal remote , that remote should have at least worked the volume and the channels selector. It could be whats called a remote sensor assy thats mounted up toward the front of the set on the inside between the buttons. Its not really a user changeable part as there is soldering involved to replace the sensor. Realisticly, the correct way to trouble-shoot this set is to look at the data or logic line coming out of the remote sensor with an osilliscope to see the data and if it goes all the way to the microprocessor IC. If it does and no remote operation happens then the Micro's bad. Theres way to much Hi-voltage in these sets for a handi-person to tinker with, and its advised that a tech take a look at this set for you . Sorry I couldnbt be of more assistance. Good Luck
