Question about Panasonic Home Theater System System

Can't get tv sound from home cinema system speakers

Hi, I have a Sony Bravia TV (KDL 20S2030) and a Sony Home Cinema System (DAV IS50) connected to each other through a HDMI cable and also an audio cord (a red plug and white plug at each end of the cord), but I can't get any sound to come through the cinema system speakers when watching a tv programme. I have set the function on the home cinema system to "TV" as per the Sony instruction manual, but nothing. The manual says the "System Audio Control" function will activate automatically so that the tv programme sound is played through the cinema speakers, but this doesn't happen. Hope someone can help! Thanks.

Start fresh with me.  Give me a brief description here. Tv is a Bravia kdl 20s2030, home cinema system dav is50 (will l look that up later). What does the cinema system do? Is it a dvd player, etc? How many sets of hook ups does it have? (By set, i mean audio and video, so if it's got a component set, that's 5 plugs.)

You need an optical cable going from the TV to the home cinema for an audio output, it worked for, had the same problem!!

You need to use a HDMI 1.4 Cable and it needs to be connected to to an HDMI socket with an ARC (audio return channel). Alternatively you can connect using an optical cable (TOSLINK).

How do i connect to sky hd and sony kdl 40w 4710 and dav-is10 i have hdmi from skyhd to tv and hdmi from home cinema to tv what else is required as i cant get surround sound from tv

you need a Optical audio cable, run this from the back of your Sky HD box to the Surround sound. Not all Broadcast are transmitted in DD so press your i button on the sky remote and you will see this on the yellow bar above the program information if it is..

Might be worth running a set of White and Red audio cable from the HD box to the Surround sound as well that way you can just mute your telly and have the lot coming through the surround sound system.

Hope this clears things up for you

No sound from our Sony Wireless Home Cinema System

Basic checks first. Have you checked they are connected properly? Maybe used a different cable to check whether the rear cables are faulty? You may just have turned your system to 2.1 surrououn sound by accident or be playing a format that only supports 2.1. Check that in the system menu under dec. mode that if it is set to AFD STD that you are playing a DVD which shows can support 5.1 on the back of its cover. Also try running the setup manually and choosing your speaker configuration. Hope this helps.

No sound when viewing normal TV broadcasts

You need to have either the red/white audio cable connected from TV out to cinema system in or a optical or coaxial cable tv out to cinema in.

Sony Bravia Dav-HDX279W and comcast HDTV Cable box connection.

Like above, use an optical connection (need fiber optic cable) or a coaxial connection (single RCA cable). HDMI might also work, but I personally haven't checked. Connect the audio outs from the cable box to the audio ins on the home theater. The TV will only need a video connection from the cable box, as well as one from the home theater (for DVDs, onscreen menus).

This discussion can help you set up the universal remote.
