Hi Remove the fan housing with the starter mecanism.Pull the starter and check if it works properly.Try to turn by hand the flyweel. It is normaly to feel dificulty only when the piston comes up in the cilinder. If you feel difficulty all the time there is too much preasure on the cilinder walls(piston rings friction.Easy kick the end of the crankshaft with a hammer until the piston moves easier in the cilinder
please leave a rating.Thanks

My Homelight 26b MightyLite leaf blower is so hard to pull start I have to put my foot on it to steady it. I pulled the spark plug and now it pulls so easily I can pull the start just holding the uni

Joe,

Compression is what makes it hard to pull start.
It should be like that.
Try holding the Draw/Pull Cord tight to your stomach and push the Blower away from you.
Kind of like throwing the blower down & away, but holding on to it.
That might be easier than pulling the cord and will save your arm.
Good luck !

When pulling cord to start it pulls hard take plug off its easy can't get it to start

REED VALVE STUCK. DOSEN'T OPEN TO RELEASE COMPRESSION. TAKE OUT PLUG - SPRAY A LOT OF CARB CLEANER IN PLUG HOLE, LET SIT FOR 5 MINUTES. PULL TO CLEAN OUT CYLINDER A FEW TIMES. THEN TAKE A LITTLE OF GAS MIXTURE USED IN SAW AND DO THE SAME THING. REPLACE PLUG AND TRY IT. IF THE SAME THING IT WILL HAVE TO BE TAKEN APART TO FIX.

Sounds like it seized or is starting to. I would put a little two stroke oil in the cylinder about 20cc maybe a little bite more 50cc if it is really hard to pull.... Leave The plug out and pull on it about 30 seconds hopefully when the plug is back in it will run... goodluck. If its really tight needs to be rebuilt....

Saw starter pulling too hard to start.

Check piston rings. Sounds like you have a seized engine.

My stihl chainsaw pulls hard even with plug removed

It might be just the sprockey bearing dry or seized, if the bearing does not turn freely on the crank it will try to turn the chain as well when you try to crank it, pull the side cover off, turn the sprocket by hand if there is a lot of resistence, grease uup the bearing or replace if damaged.

Poulan 2150 very hard to pull start..first time this season trying to start...seems like too much compression...pulls nice and easy with spark plug removed..with the spk plug in...very hard to pull..still...

If fuel leaked into the engine over the winter, it could cause very hard-to-pull problems. Remove the plug, ignition off, with the cylinder/head down, pull it through vigorously to see if expels any fuel. Replace last year's fuel with fresh fuel mix. It's a good idea to allow the engine to run out of fuel before storage. Does this engine have a compression release? If so, it may need cleaning to work properly. Hope this helps!

sound like hydraulic lock, try leaving the spark plug out and pull it quite a few times with the spark plug hole facing the ground, this should shoot the offending fluid out.

Has it always done this or has it developed?
Some saws have a decompression button to make it easier to pull over.
