I have 3 A15-127's, all have upgraded HDD's, 2 have 80's, and one has a 120GB. I am now looking at the WD Scorpio 250GB to try, but not sure if it will be able to break the 137GB barrier. I'll let you know. I have also upped to DVD DL burners, P4 2000, 2400, and 2500 CPU's, 1GB of RAM in all machines. They are very reliable, and I don't mind if they get scratches on them.

There is almost no way to be absolutely sure other than to try it, but
I'm pretty sure that the A15 is not that old so it has no size limits
below [at least] 137GB.....

best regards,

You would have no problem with either of them sizes. If you go over te 120GB I would suggest you update your BIOS.

Hard drive

have you made any changes to your bios? usually when i see this come up the bios has been changed or the hard drive has gone bad. you can try unscrewing the panel on the bottom of your toshiba that has a cylinder looking symbol next to it to check the hard drive. but most of the time like i said, this happens is because the hard drive is not being recognized/checking in during P.O.S.T. which usually means bad hard drive

Good Luck!

Thinkpad T42 Hard Disk problem

Hello.

It seems the hard disk size will max out at 80GB with a 5,400 RPM speed according to IBM.

Im sorry to say that this means that it will not support a 120Gb hard drive.

I'm need to replace the hard drive without having a system disk.

Google "TOSHIBA RECOVERY AND APPLICATIONS/DRIVERS SATELLITE A100/A105 SERIES" to find the cd delivered with a TOSHIBA. the fourth entry shows what appears to be the real thing. On their webpage EDIT>FIND "A15" to locate the CD.

There may be others in the 355 Google pages listed.

On the original factory disk gives a TOSHIBA Phone number, 1-800-457-7777, for support. I think they sell the disk for @$40.

good luck.
