Question about Philips Phones

Philips SE6551 phone problem - I bought this last week from Argos, worked fine, girlfriend threw box away which had receipt inside it. 3 days later, the answerphone lights have gone off and the handset says 'searching'. I have unpluggedand replugged every wire, and turned off for 15 minutes but all to no avail. The handset is charging in the cradle still (I hear a ping when placing it in there) so power is getting through to the base station. Any ideas?

I guess you need to register it with the base unit. I have the same unit and havn't faced such an issue. But I am sure that this will sort your problem. It will be in setting and network/advanced settings. Go to register cordless and register it with the base. You will then see a small coloured icon on the screen, like a network tower, so you know that you are paired with the base unit.

Check the handset is registered to the base- if your handset has been assigned a number it has. Can you call out from the phone? If you can I would advise disconnecting from the power and telephone line for 10-15 mins and removing the batteries from the handset and pressing every key (press them all individually in any order) the reconnect and see if you have the same problem, if you do and the item is under 30 days old return to the store with your receipt, if not and was purchased from Argos go to the store with receipt and they will send to Idect for repair, if purchased somewhere else contact 0845 3459677 and they will repair the phone under the guarantee providing you have the receipt.

I have a new dead phone


You need to make sure the phone is on the cradel half on half off is not the units fault its the users, in saying the the unit will charge the battery if you dod not kiill it already, leave the phone on the cradel if that does not charge the battery a nice day trip to radioshack for a new battery might be what you have to do, Sorry to hear you misfortuens with uniden there a good company but make things that people just do not understand.

Is 10 dollars worth it for this phone , brand new at zellers


I think Treasure Mart and Roses sells the same phone for $10 also. My girlfriend bought one and the display went out within days. She took it back, got another one, and it lasted about 3 months and the display went out on it as well. She continued using it as she no longer had her receipt for it. Now one of the buttons does not work on it. That is her experience with two of the phones. So i'm not sure if it is quite a good deal.

When you were listening to messages you probably pressed the SKIP button for longer than 2 seconds. Try pressing it and holding it again and see what happens.
