Question about Chainsaws

''How do I change the fuel filter on a Husqvarna 141 Chainsaw''

Chain saw has symptoms of restricted fuel but do not think it is the jets as it will run at full speed for a short while before stopping, bought new filter but cannot find out where the old one is and how to replace it, do I have to split the fuel tank and if so how and how do I ensure it is properly sealed after reassembly? Thanks, Michael

Thank you for your quick reply, I did follow the fuel line to where it enters the orange plastic fuel tank, when you say "Take them out" do you mean through the fuel filler plug hole and if so do you just lever the filter out and when replacing how does the unit seal effectively? Regards, Michael

Thank you savumihai71, it was quite easy once you knew where the filter was and I have changed it, however I still have the same fuel starvation problem, it will start with the choke out but soon stop whether or not the choke is out or throttle open or closed. I blew through the fuel line, removed the carb and checked inside the top and bottom covers removing the spring jet assembly and blowing through. I did not remove the jet adjustment screws for fear of getting the adjustment wrong when replacing, I have heard of a vacuum pulse line which pumps the fuel but did not find one on the carb, maybe it it part of the casting. Any advice greatly appreciated, regards, Michael

Hi michael
:-*
Just follow the fuel hose from the carburator and see where it is entering in the fuel tank.Fill out the gas from the fuel tank.At the end of the fuel hose is the fuel filter.Take them out (hose filter and fuel filter),then change it.Disassembly the carb and carefully cllean the inner parts.
:-* best wishes savumihai71

There is also a small filter in the carburettor which can get blocked.
You should check this if you still have problems after attending to the fuel line filter.
The filter is a small, fine, hemispherical filter about 1cm across, which is visible after you unscrew the top of the carb (can't remember if it is under the diaphragm or not).
It's rather delicate - take care. Remove it with a small hobby knife or similar and clean carefully.

I CAN NOT GET MY SAW TO IDLE DOWN TO WHERE THE CHAIN DOESN'T TURN. I HAVE TO IDLE SCREW ALL THE WAY OUT. WHAT DO I DO NEXT

Check the floats in the carb arent sticking and check there arent any blockages restricting airflow or restricting the movement of the accelerator cable.

My husqvarna chain saw will run only if choke is at least half way out

this is a sure sign of a fuel blockage some place !! id start with fuel filter and air filter and then look closely at fuel lines for signs of collapsing when running (CAREFULLY!!!!!) then move on to cleaning and resetting carb jets

remember choke richens fuel/air mix so if it needs choke to run then it's being restricted in fuel supply

My Husqvarna 350 chainsaw won't stay running. Changed spark plug and fresh gas. Please help if

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside
