I've got a Dell Dimension 3000 with Windows XP and a SONY CDRW/DVD CRX330E to burn CD's. My CD device can play music and read data discs but when I go to burn music CD's with Media Player, I Tunes, RealPlayer etc etc it does not recognise that I've put a disc in and burning does not start. The discs are OK because my friends can use them. I've searched the internet but cannot find an answer to this problem. Can u help?

My wife was playing Sims 2 Double Deluxe on her daughter's character. lol She ended up setting her daughter's boyfriend on fire on the game and exited without saving so he wouldn't get killed. Now... when she tried to restart the game it would work and kept giving her the message "No disc inserted. Please insert the original "The Sims? 2 Double Deluxe" CD/DVD." and would give the options "Retry" or "Cancel". So I got on and started looking it over. Got the same results she did. I restarted. Nothing changed. I went to the device manager to check the status of the driver and also tried reinstalling the driver. Everything checked out ok from the beginning but even though I did reinstall the driver that still did not fix the problem. I used my Laser Lens Cleaner DVD but I doubt it did much good because the drive wont keep the disc rotating long enough to do its job. I did find one disc that's working. It's a Hoyle Board Games CD. Its icon doesn't show up on the DVD/CD Rom drive location and it doesn't run automatically when I put it in but if I activate it from the desktop with the shortcut it runs fine. Can't figure this out for the life of me. I've never seen this happen before. I'm Running Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3 on an HP Pavilion a1473w. The drive is a Lightscribe DVD +/- writer /CD-writer Thank you for any help you can offer!
