Heating up The console is heating up within minutes of turning it on, making it freeze after a few minutes of playing.

Games freeze up
Sounds like an issue with over-heating. Make sure that there is good ventilation around the device. If there is, then the power supply or main board may be failing. When this happens you'll find the time you can run will steadily decrease between runs.

Xbox 360 is freezing with no red rings and an intercooler?
The freeze ups normally happen before the red lights of doom and they are caused by the GPU and the CPU getting too hot and the soldering snaps off so they lose connection.

If you stop the heat build up you will be fine.

You can do this yourself using a good repair guide or you can send it in and they will fix it for you.

As long as you stop most of the heat getting to the GPU and the CPU you will be fine.

PS2 games load, but freeze up within minutes.
If it is Freezing most Likely answer is your fan is broken/not working.
It would need to be replaced see if you can feel anyair blowing out of it

My gta4 game freezes within a couple minutes of starting, every other game works fine. The disk is fine, works on friends console and worked for a few months after being bought.
Is your ps3 a 60 gig,because I remember my old ps3 freezing on gta as well,try playing without being signed in to psn.

Ps3 freezes a while into a blueray movie or playing games
YOur PS3 might be overheating, make sure that it is somehwere in the open, like on a desk, or at least has room if its in a cabinet. Also make sure that it is not on a rug, or any other heat conducting amterial such as a bed, rug, or even plastic.

PS3 freezes but sound still works
when it happens, give it some time, like 5-10 min. the ps3 is most likely accessing the hard drive, and if it is, shutting down in the middle of it could currupt your hdd. if it doesnt work, even after 10 min, call sony tech support, but if it works fine afterwords, i dont see why it would be neccessary. unless it gets worse, i think you should just turn it on, turn it off after a few min, then back on, and then play.

hi there, The scratches on your disks are usually caused by the laser Assembly on the Hitachi dvd-rom. If the console freezes on other games it may be over heating.
