Re: Router blocks MSN and https: secure sites

I had exactly the same problem. Check your mtu settings on the 2wire. I think the modem is set at 1450 (or there abouts) An article (sorry can't find a link) suggested raising it to 1500 this didnt work for me so I started reducing it instead. Once i set it at 1400 mtu I was able to log on to secure sites again. Hope this helps.

Re: Router blocks MSN and https: secure sites

Reset the windows security files. Go to start, then run and type in cmd. Click ok. In the command prompt type regsvr32 softpub.dll and press enter. Next type regsvr32 wintrust.dll and press enter.

If that doesn't work you may need to lower the MTU setting in your router. This controls the packet size sent and can cause problems with secure site encyption if too large.

You must have your internet browser settings too high, depending on the browser you use it will be in the internet options.

How to unblock address?

The first thing you will have to do is login to the router. All routers come with a default password setup, but they all instruct the user to change the password right away so that they remain secure. Once you have successfully logged into the router you will have to go to the Security setup part of the routers configuration program. There will be a tab specifically for the blocking of certain sites. Many routers also allow the user to block sites depending on whether certain words or themes exist on the site. Whichever way the site is blocked you would have to go into the menu and either remove the specific site or uncheck the content blocking portion that is blocking the website you want to access.

IF you have the make and model number of the router you can do a Google search for the default password. You can then try and login to the router with that password. If the owner of the router has not changed it yet then you can get into the Security menu and make the changes that you need.

I set up wireless network for my boss, using Belkin wireless n router, so the 3 computers can connect to the same wireless printer, and she can access this network with her home laptop. All is well except...

If possible, to rule out the modem as the cause, connect a computer directly to the internet(bypassing the router entirely). If it is the router, you could try flashing it back to factory defaults and reconfigure. Log into the router's firewall feature and see if port 443 is blocked to the outside--this could cause https connections to fail.

Msn key ports will not fix!

Dear Friend,
First of all, always check the status of your web browser before signing in to windows hotmail messenger. That means that if you try to sing in, be sure that work offline mode in your browser is not checked.Secondly, have you run the MSN MESSENGER port configuration?Third and most important, have you opened the ports in your firewall?
Here is the list of thee ports that MSN Messenger uses:
1366 MSN Messenger
1367 MSN Messenger
1838 : TCP MSN Messenger (Gamevoice)
1863 : TCP/UDP MSN Messenger primary (incoming)
5190 : UDP MSN Messenger (incoming)
6891 : TCP MSN Messenger Filetransfer (incoming) - ports 6891 - 6900, one port per file transfer
6901 : TCP/UDP MSN Messenger Voice Telephony (incoming)

5004 : UDP MSN Messenger, ports 5004-65535. Used for AUDIO and VIDEO. Caution: securty risc! Do not open ALL these ports!
5004 : UDP MSN messenger (dynamically uses a port in this range 5004 – 65535 - requires uPNP in your NAT router and/or firewall). Used for AUDIO and VIDEO. See Microsoft website for details....

Good Luck!

Msn not receiving messages

I might advised you try reinstalling the MSN on your computer. It might the main problem is on the software that was been install before.

Note: If the Internet is working properly then if you can surf to the Internet. It means that the connection is working properly. Did you check if some of the messenger is working?
