Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My HP DV7-1175nr is rattling. It sounds like a fan. I'm so mad because I just purchased the darn thing. Is there a fix for it or can someone tell me how to take off the bottom plate. It looks easy, but it's complicated.

Yes you can open the right side cover, but make sure take it out slowly, because some cover have Fan Connecting on the cover. it is the wire or cables that making sound it slips on the fan. so go get a rubber and tie the cables so that it will swing through the CPU Fan or board fun.... TY

Hello there! Noisy Sounds can be much frightening, but if you could determine from where the sound is coming on you will get the solution, the sound makers inside a pc are mostly fans, and what type of sound you are actually hearing, rattling sounds means some wires touching up the C.P.U Cooler fan, another one could be a loose fan on the SMPS. Solution to this is to Check all the Fans Do so by
1. Remove the Cabinet cover on one side and Start the machine and try to see and determine what actually is making the noise, rattling sound could be a wire or something touching the fan, if its okay, then listen for the SMPS fan.
Hope this Helps.

Locate the VGA connector (encircled in red) at the back of the PC:

Plug the monitor cable in it and start the system. If its functional the display should come.

Remove and re-install the RAM. It helps sometimes. Remember to un-plug the system from the mains before carrying out this procedure.

I checked the mother board specs (HP A705W) and it has no external video card slot nor any fan except on the processor. Did your son put a PCI video card?

By the way, it isn't wise to remove the fan if there is any on any device. Not only the device will be damaged but can result in a fire hazard as these components get VERY hot during working.

If the after reinstalling the RAM, PC does not boot, its likely a hardware fault. You have to get it checked by a tech. If its not repairable a new board is required and make sure that other components are working before making a purchase. Mother board model is MS-6577.

System fan has failed

Your system's fan has failed. If it is under warranty, you need to have HP made aware of this failure.
