Question about Lite On LTN 323 (LTN-323) Internal 32x CD-ROM Drive
I have a Lite-On CD-ROM that was included with a Dell Dimension Desktop system. Yesterday, I had a DSL connection installed to the computer. The CD-ROM worked fine before, during, and even for a few hours after the installation. All of a sudden, while I was playing a game that requires a disc to run, the CD-ROM stopped reading the disc. I removed the disc and reloaded it; the LED light came on for a few seconds and then went off...it did not sound like it was trying to read the disc. The CD-ROM is shown to be working properly in device manager, and uninstalling/reinstalling/updating the drivers did not change anything. The drive is shown in explorer, but it says that there is no disc. I tried different discs with no change. I don't know what my next step should be, short of replacing the drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well try to clean the lens with a clean and dry cotton swab. ir you have a compressed air duster for electronics, use it also. remove the drive and open the cover. look for small like circle glass(lens) clean it. use also the compress air duster by hitting the below parts of the lens assembly to remove accumulated dust and test. if the problem persist, its about time to replace your drive. good luck!
