No picture in view finder on record

Camera records but no picture in view finder on record. lens cap is off

SOURCE: lens cover not open and blank screen

the problem of your camera is the ccd image sensor...better go to the sony service center for replacing the image sensor..i know it is free for replacing that sensor cause that is one of the model that sony recall produc and the cover not open error message is a poor contact of the lens cover switch...

SOURCE: Nothing appears in view finder or on screen when recording

1- record something and make sure there sound
2- playback the what you just recorded
3- if no video but sound is ok, send it back to Sony. They will fix it for free (CCD sensor is no good)

You have not given enough information. Are you trying to see
recorded photos or expecting to see the image from the lens?
You normally have an option to either use the view finder OR the
LCD display. It usually defaults to the view finder and you must activate the LCD with a button.

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos
Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.

My camcorder will not record.
i have a jvc GR-C1 camcorder. When i press record i can see it recording through the view finder. When i play back what i have recorded it shows what you see on an emply tape, nothing. Can anyone help me. Thanks.

Only records sound no picture
Hi there and welcome to FixYa.

Your camera has a bad CCD sensor. It's the chip that converts light to electrons (that's how your camcorder records an image.)
I'm sorry, but that is not a do it yourself fix and should be taken to a shop for repair.

There is a good chance that the iris is stuck shut. Try tapping the side of the camera lightly to try and release it. If the camera can show you old pictures that are currently stored correctly, I would suspect the iris.

I HAD THIS PROBLEM ERROR CODE C31 : 22 WOULD COME UP AND TRV 118 CAM WOULD NOT WORK. I TRIED EVERYTHING TILL ONE DAY I BANGED IT ON A CARPETED FLOOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAMCORDER 5 TIMES QUITE HARD. THEN THE CAM WORKED JUST FINE! MY CAM HADN'T WORKED FOR OVER 7 MONTHS. NOW I HAVE IT BACK. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.

Lens Cap Warning & Gray Distorted Display
CCD Failure/Lens Cap Warning Error JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, the following models may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display “LENS CAP” even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Repairs of units exhibiting these problems as a result of a defect in the CCD image sensor will be made free of charge at a JVC Authorised Service Centre even if the unit is outside warranty.
