Hi cano_arm

I would format the hard drive with the drive manufactures drive utilities and then reinstall windows.
If (and I guess that its tru) you have lost the CD you have paid for, then I don't se any problems in download a "new" on from here:

When less than a quarter feel the need to vote for the effort some of us at FixYou offer, I think to myself, ”is it worth it”.

They get help, and do not care to thank you; “thank you” do not cost a dime, so why????

It means that your computer is missing a file that windows xp needs to run boot properly or is missing a program that your home edition xp needs. Repairing the OS or windows xp home edition by means of your xp instalation cd will do the job. Just insert your xp installation disk to your cd/dvd rom and select install windows xp home edition. Then select ( repair ), and so on let it finish repairing . Once your system rebooted, let it run without pressing enter or space bar. Just watch and let your computer do the job. This will probably solve your boot problem. But before doing all of this, please check your IDE or SATA cable and also the power cable that is connected to your hard drive. Try to unplug and plug again to ensure a good connection. If this won't work, you can proceed repairing Your windows xp installation or reinstalling a new xp operating system. Have a nice day and i hope i was in any help to you friend.

You can also do a clean installation by following the procedure as listed below:To perform a clean installation of Windows XP, follow these steps:Back up all important information before you perform a clean installation of Windows XP. Save the backup to an external location, such as a CD or external hard disk.Start your computer from the Windows XP CD. To do this, insert the Windows XP CD into your CD drive or DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
Note To boot from your Windows XP CD, the BIOS settings on your computer must be configured to do this. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press any key to start the computer from the Windows XP CD.At the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to start Windows XP Setup.Read the Microsoft Software License Terms, and then press F8.Follow the instructions on the screen to select and format a partition where you want to install Windows XP.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Windows XP Setup.

Ive been trying to set up a new computer with an older family pc. It has windows xp home edition on it, but everytime i boot it up it doesnt go past the startup screen and says i need a start up file.

Check whether the hardware requirements of XP matches yours. If there is no problem, check for any error in the hard disk. You can use any of the bootable disk management tool. I recommend Hiren Boot CD or Knopix (linux) because both are free and easy to use. Format the disk partition to NTFS. And try installing Windows now. If still there is a problem then your XP cd maybe corrupted.

Computer booting time ntdlr missing displayed how to repair this ..? i insert the windows xp booting cd but then displays press any key but my keyboard is usb key board i cant press any key......pls help...

Make sure there is no removable disk in any drive that may be causing the error.

If thats not it then place the CD in the CD drive and boot to the recovery console

use the recovery console to copy NTLDR from another machine

For that you need to recover error on hard drive then you can see repair option.
For that insert windows disk or recovery disk in cd/dvd rom.
Then boot your computer with it set first boot device as cd/dvd rom in bios.
Then follow the procedure select "R" for recovery console.
Then type in prompt "chkdsk /r" then press "y"
then it fix error on hard drive.
Then restart computer then it search the previous windows then you can see "r" for repair previous windows.

I installed a problematic version of windows xp black and now my computer does not boot up! it says unbootable INT. file then appears an error message saying that some i386 files are corrupted and then...

Hi christin454,

as windows black is a not official version of windows ( as far as I know ) and it was cracked from the original version, there can be a hundred reasons of why you experience problems. I recommend using your own "classical" version instead of this black version.
Just slam the original win cd into the drive and reboot. It then asks you to boot from cd... you just push any key and install the original.

Can't boot with Cd-Rom unable to install windows XP

Well, maybe I can try, thus in your bios setting you can boot using usb cdrom? Or maybe its time to change your cdrom drive already. If you can borrow a good spare cdrom. Take this in for the meantime in exchange for your installed cdrom. Maybe your cdrom drive is faulty. Then if this is ok, it is now easy for you to get on.

Second option, you can take out your harddrive prime it, then have a partition (say d:\) with a copy of full copy of xp installer, and other important installer just have it foldered. Then I assume you can boot using a floppy drive with win98 rescue disk. After booting goto harddrive partition with xp installer. then click setup and set it up in c:\ . Then your go other software, installed it manually.

I do this coz it much faster to installed using harddrive and also it is only in xp.

Hope this helps. comments if I miss something.
