Question about Gateway 450ROG Notebook

Laptop wont boot up

I tried setting my laptop up on a home network (which I've never done before) but when it said everything was done and it needed to be reset before the new settings would take effect I pressed OK. It went to re-boot and then just went to a black screen with the cursor at the top left and I cant get it to do anything else. I can get to bios screen but thats about it. I recently had to re-install Windows Xp on it.

Thanks Ryan

Why is Windows 7 home not starting?

Try to start in safe mode by tapping f8 on your keyboard while its booting. Choose safe mode with networking. If it boots in SM OK then download and run Malwarebytes once the scan is done and you deleted everything try again to boot normal. If that does not work but you can get to the safe mode screen try the option that says last known good configuration

Toshiba Satellite C675D-S7109 It won't boot it just keeps going to a black screen that say a lot like PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE: ROM

It seems that the computer is set to boot from network, so, when the computer starts, just enter the BIOS and select the Boot options, then disable Other Boot Options and make sure that on the Boot list, Hard Drive is the first. When you're done save settings and quit, then everything should be fine.

What do you mean it won't allow you to put in the home network passcode? When you click connect to your home network, does the password request come up for you to put it in? If not, you've got your settings wrong on the laptop

There are some configurations that allow you to put in the password and then are are some that allow you to use a pin. I bet you've got your connection in the laptop configured wrong.

NV55C Gateway Lap Top cannot connect to wireless router

Does your WiFi work on the laptop work in another place... Starbucks for example? If so, then there is a software security issue with the router, you will need to call the ISP for adjust the settings. If you PC doesn't work with wifi at Starbucks then you have a software issue with your laptop. Go to MY Computer, Hardware/Devices and look for any yellow marks. There will probably be one where the wifi is located. (Expand all the devices by clicking on the plus "+ signs. Find the wifi modem, there are many mfrs; Broadcom and Atheros are two ones. Go into the submenus and driver update too and write everything down you find. The most important things are the description, model number, software version and version date. Navigate to the hardware mfrs site and download and install the newest drivers for the wifi modem. Re-boot and try again to establish a connection.

I cannot connect to the WIFI at work, but I can connect to my WIFI network at home, and other public networks. The wireless network at work is pushed by a D-Link 8200AP with a WAP security, just like it is...

Your laptop cannot connect to your work's wireless network because the security settings (ir WAP) in the D-Link is different to the security setting in your Netgear.
The wireless card in your laptop will need the settings changed to suit the D-Link's wireless settings ie the SSID and WAP.
You will need to change the wireless card settings in your laptop back to the Netgear's wireless settings to connect to your wireless network at home.
Some wireless cards allow you to set up different profiles for different wireless networks which allow you to switch wireless networks easily by just selecting the profile for the network you want to connect to.

More than likely if you haven't downloaded the correct drivers, maybe?
As it works with the LAN cable, I would think the pc must be OK, I would check the settings for the router and re boot the laptop.
Hope that helps.
