Question about Sony STR-DB1070 Receiver

1 Answer

Volume change, followed by slight static playback.

My STR-DB1070 will be working fine then all of a sudden will slightly increase in volume and at that same time the audio quality gets worse. The playback almost sounds like static.

Could this be a feedback issue?

If I power down the unit, then power it back up it will be back to normal; then a couple minutes later go back to the static sound.

Please help!

I will try to find a service center close to me. I really appreciate your comment. I will let you know if I find somewhere to help me with this.

I looked around for something similar to this under the "hood" but this receiver is fairly complex and all components are jammed in there.

Being an intermittent problem it will probably be hard to find, although it seems to "most noticeably" effect my center channel.

    Thx Again!

I believe you have dry joints in output drive it require a qualifier Technician the do this you need special soldering station with anti static you are dealing with surface mount components if you shorted some thing in output drive it could damage to the output they are expensive to replace, now is not too bad you should bring in to Sony or servicce center Sony to repair it

What causes audio to suddenly increase to maximum?

Volume in modern systems are controlled by a single IC. If that goes, it makes the volume functions go wonky. The IC can be found by tracing the wires from the volume control, or following the circuit if it is mounted on a PC board.

Broken volume control knob

There are three differetn part numbers listed for this part. It may depend upon the serial number. I would suggest that you check with a local Sony distributor to see if the one listed below will work for your unit. The part number and approximate cost is listed below.
Please note that this is the only one that is still available.

I have an old onkyo a-8067 reciever and only the left side speakers work. A while back the right side was fading and now it doesn't work at all. I also have a sony STR D1015 home theater receiver that has...

Fixed the Onkyo. Took apart the balance adjuster and rebent the feather-like things inside so they made contact. Clamped it back together and it works fine.

Subwoofer keeps turning onto stanby?

I had this "problem" and corrected it by slightly increasing the volume on my receiver. After a bit of tweeking both the volume on the receiver and the output level on the sub everything seems to be okay.

Flip the top cover, just above the "AV MENU" there is a round boll kind of switch, it has to be pressed when you want to function top cover button, so may be it is warn out or the nob has been broken. if you press that switch with pen nob it will function...
