You could take them to a professional sharpening service or a method I use is to get a glass bottle & make out like you are going to cut the neck off the bottle try getting the scissors as open as possible then firmly try cut the neck off around 10 times after this they will cut very well indeed, it really works.

Can you effectively sharpen a 12in hunting knife with a dremmel? if so How do i do it

Hi Patrick

You CAN, but IMO the dremel would be too aggressive for the job. My grandfather gave me a pocket whetstone many years ago and I use it to sharpen my Leatherman wave tool. Works amazingly well, I can almost shave with it.

(EDIT)
A good reference on how to use a whetstone to sharpen a knife can be found at:
http://www.wikihow.com/Sharpen-a-Pocket-Knife

This particular set of instructions refers to a pocket knife, but the principles involved are the same.

Hope this helps you out.

Will I be able to have my trimmer blade sharpened?

Hello,

The blade can be sharpened, the problem is that these are not sharpened to ofter. Finding a person to do it will be.....difficult. I would suggest finding a knive or scissors sharpener, they would be able to handle this.

Hope this helps

My andis t-outliner keeps pulling hair when cutting and it barley cuts the hair. Do the blades need adjusting?

sound like your clipper blades may require sharpening, just remove the blades and send them to a professional company specialising in scissor and clipper sharpening.

What size file do i use for a Ryobi chainsaw model PCN4545 to sharpen the chain

The standard chain file should fit it. It is about 3/16 dia. I found the dremel to work 10 times better, they have a little stone bit just for chains. Eventually, you have to take it in for sharpening, it will set all the teeth the same.

Hi, used a blade sharpener for my a2 horse clipper blades and they are still blunt. Do i sharpen between the teeth

no . The blades are sharpened by grinding away the base of the wear until the edges between the teeth are sharp. It also necessary for the tension between the cutting blades is correct other wise the cutting teeth ride up over the hair and will not cut. Have a person who does sharpening of knives ,scissors and blades sharpen the clippers for you as the machine will get it right.

How to Sharpen a Black and Decker Hedge Hog sharpen-black-decker-hedge-hog-800x800.jpg Maintaining the sharpness of electric timmers can made landscape trimming easier with beautiful results. Electric hedge trimmers make trimming hedges and bushes easier and quicker than using manual hand-powered trimmers. Electric trimmers, the most popular type in the U.S., cost less and require less maintenance than gasoline-powered models. Electric trimmers are used most often by homeowners with the Black and Decker Hedge Hog series being very popular. While they are not premium products, electric trimmers like the Black and Decker Hedge Hog trimmer can keep trimming reliably for years with proper maintenance, including sharpening the blade's teeth.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need
  • Work table
  • Two medium size clamps
  • Dremel tool or similar hand-held multi-purpose tool
  • Grinding wheel attachment for hand-held tool.
  • Dremel 971 (or similar) aluminum oxide grinding sharpening stone with a tip small enough to cover the flat facet of a Hedge Hog blade tooth
    • 1 Unplug the electric trimmer before trying to sharpen the teeth.
    • 2 Clamp the electric trimmer to the work table using two clamps if necessary so the Hedge Hog is firmly held down with the blade teeth accessible over the edge of the work table.
    • 3 Insert and secure grinding tip in hand-held multi-purpose tool.
    • 4 Maneuver the grinding tip so it is perpendicular to the facet of the Hedge Hog tooth.
    • 5 Sharpen teeth in one direction, being careful to try and maintain the same cutting edge angle on the sharpened tooth of no less than 35 degrees.
    • 6 Make same number of grinding passes/grind the same length of time a few seconds on each tooth.
Tips & Warnings
  • This task should take about 15 minutes.
  • Keep a light touch; too much force can break the grinding surface.
  • For best results, insert the sharpening bit slightly less than all the way into the tool.
