Question about Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Calculator

1 Answer

Can't run downloaded programs

I have a TI-83 Plus Silver Edition.

I downloaded several statistical programs along with several supporting programs that are called as part of the main programs. Downloading went fine, programs are in the calculator.

However, when I attempt to run the programs, no go. I hit the PRGM button. All the programs appear in a numbered list. I select a program and the home page and hit ENTER- the screen show prgmXXXXX, where XXXXX in the program name selected. If I hit ENTER once again, the screen shows and error message ERR:ProgramArchived and allows me to either 1:Quit or 2:GoTo.

Am I doing something wrong ?? Any suggestions??

What your doing wrong is not using NewProb before you start! This will make so you have no problem with single variables. NewProb is [F6] [2] [ENTER]

Next, you need to unarchive the variable and programs you are using. To get to Var-Link use [2nd] [minus sign] Shown below are Var Link files opened up to unarchive in order to run programs

Find the prorams you want to use, highlight it like I've done below, and select, the [F4] key. After you have all your programs check select, [F1] [9] and everything you had archived now is unarchived and ready to use.
    ........Achived Memory............................UnArchived Memory

There is no such thing as a TI89 Plus Silver Edition.

If you mean the TI-89 or TI-89 Titanium, press diamond / (the diamond key below the 2ND key, then the divide key).

If you mean the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition or the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, press MATH left-arrow 4 .

I accidently deleted program on TI-83 plus. How do I retrieve it? Thanks.

If it's a TI program, you can download it from

Otherwise you'll have to get it from where you originally got it. In either case, you'll have to connect the TI to your computer using a USB cable and transfer the program.

I have ti-83 plus silver edition when i trun it on all it say is that ti-83 plus silver edition 1.14 RAM cleared so when i click enter it trun off

The most likely cause is that the batteries are depleted, the main ones and the backup battery. Replace with fresh ones. In so doing you may have to readjust contrast.

To adjust the contrast.
Press [2nd] key and release it.
Press and Hold the UPArrow to increase contrast or DownArrow to lighten the screen.

In the message you reported, I notice that your OS is old. The latest version is the 1.19. You might see fit to update the OS. You can use the TIConnect software, downloadable from

Install the TI Connect on your computer. Connect the calculator to the computer (after you install TI Connect) with th TI USB Silverlink Cable.
Run TI Connect and if you are connected to the Internet, click the Updates button in TI Connect.

Getting more than 10 equations into y=

The TI 83, 84 seris can not store more than 10 equations. the TI 86 and above can have infinate, but not the 83, 84s. If you have catalog help in your apps, you can run that, and it will be able to tell you all the syntax of every function it has.

Why do some TI83 program work on a TI84 plus and other don't?

Ti 83 and ti84 really have no difference and operate the same. There was something different or you had varibles used by multiple programs that conflicted w/ the ti84 and it would have done the same on the ti83. If you like to rework it and need help email me at
