Question about NetGear WGT624 Wireless Router

Netgear wgt624 just stopped connecting to internet

All the lights are on just as usual. Yet no network connect. When I bypass the router, I hook right up.(that is how I am typing this message). Worked yesterday but not today. I am a comcast cable customer. Any suggestions?

    I have a similar problem.
    The router works fine and I have Internet connection, however because its on an ADSL line it hangs everytime the phone rings.
    When the router gets reset then works fine until the next phone call.
    The modem is DM111P netgear again. 
    The router was working fine on a cable Internet connection, now that I shifted to ADSL it drops with each phone call

I encountered the same problem, with the same modem and also Comcast, and here's what wound up working for me, after time spent with a nice guy on the Netgear customer support line:

1. Log into router: http://192.168.0.1 (or 192.168.1.1) - user: admin / password: password

2. Under Maintenance, click Router Status. If IP Address is listed as 0.0.0.0, there's your problem-- router isn't getting address from modem.

3. At bottom of Basic Settings, under Router MAC Address, change selection from Use Default Address to Use Computer MAC Address.

4. Click Apply.

5. Click Router Status again-- non-blank IP address should now be listed.

6. Basic Settings will now show MAC address under Use This MAC Address. See if you can get online now. I could, and I hope you can, too!

Comcast uses DHCP and does not supply a router, only a modem. Bridge mode will not help a comcast customer. Before post#1 did you reboot the modem/router 1st?? Post#1 should work, the modem binds to the nic mac of the pc, when u clone that to the router the modem thinks its the pc still. If you had a DSL service like ATT/Verizon then yes you need bridge mode....

The modem must be set first into a bridge mode by Comcast who had provided you the modem before connecting the modem to the netgear router.
you will not have an internet connection if your modem was not set into a bridge mode if you will connect it to your netgear router.

If you have lost the password to access the router page then you have to reset the router

Ensure that you have all the details regarding your internet connection before resetting the router

If you reset the router you can run the smart setup wizard and get connected by entering correct information in all the pages of the wizard

If you are looking for the wireless password:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Access your router page ( Open Internet Explorer --> Type 192.168.1.1 and enter it--> Login name(default)-admin, Password(default)-password) --> GO to wireless settings,under Wireless settings you will find the wireless password.

Netgear WGT624 router won't connect to the internet


I am in the UK and have found through experience the Netgear's seem to work perfect on a BT line (equivalent of AT & T)
but not on the cable.

I would suggest purchasing a Linksys by Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router as these seem to install in minutes,
saves me hours of wasted time when setting up wireless networks.

No connection when installing WGT624 Netgear router


Plug an ethernet cable into the wan port of the router from your virgin modem... then plug ethernet cable from computer into a port on the router....that should solve your problem.

Make sure that your computer is getting a valid IP address from the router. If your wireless network is secured, you might as well consider checking the wireless settings.

More info please? Which lights are on on the router? What kind of Internet service do you have? Can you connect to Internet when you bypass the router and plug the Ethernet directly into your computer?

need more information - do you have cable? DSL? Are you able to connect when you put the Ethernet cable directly into your computer and bypass the wireless router? The wireless signal is only indicating that your router is "broadcasting," but does not mean you have a usable Internet connection.
