Question about Frigidaire GLEQ2152ES Electric Dryer

1 Answer

I just bought and installed a Frigidaire Affinity four prong heating cord and when I turn the power on through the fuse box, the dryer lights up, allows me to select the drying options but does not have any heat. Have I missed something?

Just a question, per the documentation, it makes a note about whether or not to hook it up this way if it's being installed in a mobile home. Should I worry about this or just hook it up that way. There is already a white ground connection being made to the green screw. Are you telling me that the white (From the Dryer) and the Green (From power cord) should both be connected to the Green ground screw?
    Thanks for the help!!

Change a four prong cord to three prong cord, dryer heats, turns but does not dry, vents have been cleaned

test this steps and fix it. God bless you

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Frigidaire Affinity panel turns on (lights up), even counting down, but the dryer won't tumble or heat. Help?!

Hi margaretc920 - Often when a dryer turns but will not heat, it is because either a fuse from the fuse box is blown or the switches on the breaker tripped, depending on your house. If your house uses fuses, there are two house fuses that supply voltage to the dryer circuit in your fuse box. If one of the two fuses is blown, the unit may turn but will not heat. Check and replace fuse in fuse box if necessary. However, if the house has circuit breakers, there may be two breakers with switches that supply voltage to the dryer and if one is tripped the unit as well will experience this issue. The heater of a dryer requires 220 to 240 volts to operate. Try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household breaker to the off position. Wait approximately two minutes, turn on the dryer and select a normal cycle. If the issue persists, it could also potentially mean a number of other things: defective cord, wiring, control board or door switch. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the dryer to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

Frigidaire Affinity AEQ6700FSO electric dryer does not heat, then shuts off within 10 minutes.

Hello Scott Joseph Brandt - Since you have already replaced the thermal limiter check your breaker or fuses. Some dryers are run by two separate fuses, one for power and one for heat-ours is. If it is not the power source more than likely the issue lies with your heating coil.

Frigidaire GLEQ2152ES Dryer Won't Power UP

IF you find that you have only a 3 wire feed for this dryer (and the reason for the 3 prong receptacle)...then you can not properly install a 4 prong dryer cord to it. You now have 2 choices....either rewire (assuming that it is a 3 wire supply) the entire run from the dryer breaker to the outlet location with 4 wire (typically a run of 8/3 with ground having a black, red, white and bare ground)and install a 4 prong dryer receptacle to match the configuration of the new dryers cord.....OR - you can remove the 4 wire cord and replace it with a 3 wire cord....re-using the ground strap - IF it is still in place.

four prong sould be installed as followed, black and red go to eitehr ends( amkes no difference which, white goes to middle and the green wire gets screwed directly to the dryer cabinet itself( usually an existing green screw just outside the connectin box. if there no power after that then check to be sure oyou indded have 220v going to the outlet

Power

depending on what type of circuit protection you have on the dryer[ circuit breaker or the older screw in fuse ] is probably what you heard blowing . If the noise you heard came from the dryer , then it's time to check the connections in the dryer[after unplugging the power source to it] to see what has happened ,if you feel you are experienced enough to handle this type of operation. If you have any doubts about you ability to do this ,then don't!! Call an electrician and/or appliance repairman to do the inspection

No heat

Check your breaker box, or fuses. A dryer will run but not heat if one fuse is bad.

Dryer not working

Assuming the problem is associated with you changing the cord, it sounds like you have a wire crossed on the power cord. Double check how you have the cord installed first. If that is correct check your power to the dryer. Since you changed the type of cord, I assume you have had outlet replaced or have just moved to new house. If you have a fuse box instead of a breaker box, check your fuses. It takes two fuses for the dryer. If one of them blows, the motor will run but you wont get heat. The motor runs on 120 but it needs 240 for the element. I can't count how many people have bought a new dryer just to find out they only had a house fuse blown and nothing was wrong with their old dryer. If you have had wall outlet changed there could be a wire crossed in it.
