Question about LG WM1812C Front Load Washer
We run at least two loads every day in our LG WD8074FHB washing m/c - recently when my wife removes the clothes after a completed cycle, she has noticed that there is a bad odour inside the machine?? She has run the machine empty on hot to try and clear but the smell remains? Could you kindly give us any advice?
You don't have to drain all the water out after each use, you just need to clean things up a bit.
There is a problem with the design, in that the drawer area is a breeding ground for mould.
There will be a latch on the drawer you need to press to remove it - take it out and wash it in a hot solution of borax. Alternatively bleach it, and then wash in hot detergent.
Use a spray cleaner designed to kill mould and mildew, and use it with a brush inside the drawer apature to remove all mould build up. It's quite a grotty job - but needs doing.
After that, use a cloth to clean as far back into the pipe as you can.
Do two washes on hot with bleach, then a rinse, and it's good to go.
It is most important you leave the drawer open after a wash, and the door open more than 2" on these machines to prevent it, and a hot wash occasionally for whites. Tell the manufacturer that you won't be buying their brand again.

I had the same problem. It's a design flaw with all HE's I have learned, they are too efficient. I visited my local Sears store and purchased WasherFresh. I initially tried Affresh made by Whirlpool, did not help at all. WasherFresh I initially had to use 3 tables to get rid of the buildup and now I use it once a month and now our towels do not smell moldy. Hope this helps.

We have the same problem I have had mine for 4 years now. About once a month I put one cup of powder dish washer soap and one cup of bleach and put it on regular cycle with hottest water setting . Also if you use Liquid detergent STOP. I has animal fat in it and the animal fat doesn't drain out well and sits there and cause more bacteria and mold to grow... This was told to us by a service man . It has worked since I switched to powder and clean it monthly I have not had to deal with the smell. I would never recommend this wash machine I shouldn't have to do this but it solved the problem for me
