Do need a memery card in the camera to get it to work and if so were can i get one the cheapest
and what is the size or number i need

A memory card si required in order to save images using this camera. This camera uses smartmedia cards. The size ranges from 16mb to 128mb.

Cannot find memory card fo Olympus didital camera D-460 ZOOM


You can purchase Smartmedia 3.3 memory cards at Nextag.com, Amazon.com and eBay.com amongst others. Make sure you buy Olympus or make sure you format any other purchased card in the camera. BTW, you can purchase 128MB cards as well, not only 16 and 32MB.

Batteries type


Four AA-size alkaline batteries, lithium batteries, and Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries can be used. The D-460/490 Zoom can also use two Olympus CR-V3 (LB-01) long-life lithium batteries. Olympus recommends the use of Ni-MH batteries or CR-V3 long-life lithium batteries (where applicable).
