Question about Epson Stylus 1520 InkJet Color Printer
When I turn on the printer and it starts its initialization routine, the mechanism that moves the print head back and forth seems to be stuck and the gears (?) make a terrible racket. After a few attempts to move the print head fail, the routine stops and the Reset Light start blinking as well as the Cover Open Light (which is NOT open). I love this printer - it is a mighty work horse. Any ideas as to what the problem is and how to solve it so I can get it back in the field.?
BAD news - this combo of lights indicates 'fatal error' - usually fixed by power-off then power on - if it repeats then there is a mechanical error with the printhead transport mechanism probably jammed by foreign object or broken part - only solved by opening up - unless you are confident about your fixit skills, then best solved by a qualified service technician - the printer is too valuable to poke a screwdriver into at random.
