It took me forever to figure this out too but I just did. There is a ring on the front around the lens which can be rotated between two positions (macro and infinity). Even reading the manual took me forever to figure it out. Never thought to look at the front of the camera!

Pictures out of focus except for closeups

You're apparently in the macro mode, which is specifically designed for closeups. To take the camera out of macro mode, slide the switch on the end of the camera away from the flower toward the mountain.

When I hit the flash button to get flash Macro mode pops up on the screen..What does this mean? How do I get it off?

Macro mode is for taking pictures of things very close to the camera.

There is probably a slide switch on the left end of the camera as viewed from the back. Slide it away from the flower and toward the mountain to get it off macro mode. If the switch isn't there, please reply to this post telling us what model Vivitar camera you have.

Whenever I try to put on the flash, it says no flash in the macro mode. What does thaat mean and what do i do!!! Its really frustrating because it already doesn't take good pictures and i need the flash.

Macro mode is used for taking close-up pictures. In this mode, as the camera says, you cannot use the flash. There's a slide switch on the left side of the camera, near the USB jack. To take the camera out of macro mode, slide it away from the flower and toward the mountain.

Blurry video. close up is ok...but more than a foot away and it gets blurry. rockinon 700 HD cam. Flower symbol is apparent by the battery symbol...not sure it that was there before

You have put the camera into "Macro" mode. That's an extreme close-up mode for photographing... flowers! Hence the flower symbol. While in macro mode the camera won't be able to autofocus on objects at normal distances.

I don't know your camera, so cannot advise on how you get out of macro mode, but many cameras have a physical switch with flower, head-and-shoulders, and mountain icons, for very close, medium, and far focus ranges. My Lumix has macro mode as one of the selections on the rotary mode selection knob. My canon has it on the ring around the Function button. All marked with a little flower.
