You will have to find out the brand of your wirless hardware. and reinstall the drivers for it as the operating cd does not cover the driver for this.
After installation of the new driver. Walah it has been done. the driver will only cost about $10.

or you can email me the brand @ c.dunn@live.com.au and i will send you a driver for this.

Turn on your computer and locate the Wi-Fi icon. This could be located on the upper row on a laptop it will have the radiation look ((())) Make sure its pressed on. The internet connection is located in the system tray in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The icon looks like a series of rectangles that increase in from left to right. Right-click the Wi-Fi icon and select "Connect to a network." You will see a list of available wireless networks. Wireless Acer laptop can be a massive boon to your productivity when it is working properly and a massive headache when it is not. When your laptop card begins to exhibit undesirable symptoms, such as signal dropping, you can avoid a hefty repair bill by performing at-home troubleshooting. The best solution is to merely reinstall the software driver, which refers to the program that the operating system uses to speak the wireless card's language.

Open your operating manual and look up the model name and number for your laptop. Navigate to the Acer Support web page (see Below) and click on the "Downloads" link. http://support.acer.com/ Input the model number of your laptop, click on the "Search" button, download the wireless driver file for your laptop model and save the file to your desktop. Open the "Start" menu, click on "Control Panel" and open "Device Manager." Open the "Network Adapters" menu, double-click on your wireless card, select the "Drivers" tab, click on the "Update Drivers" button and choose the desktop as the location to search for new drivers. Click "Next" to reinstall the driver, fixing your wireless woes.

DOESN'T DETECT WIFI

The wireless feature on a Gateway computer allows you to connect to a network without the hassle of cables. This allows you to browse the Internet conveniently wherever you are. Gateway computers rely on Windows operating systems, which come with a built-in feature to manage your wireless connection. This feature makes turning off your wireless connection an easy process if, for a moment, you prefer to connect to the Internet using a wired connection.

Click the Windows "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel." Click Network and Internet Connections > Network Connection, if you are using a Windows XP Gateway computer. You should see your wireless connection. For Windows Vista and 7 Gateway computers, click "Network and Sharing Center" from the Control Panel and click "Manage Wireless Connections." You should see your wireless connection. Right-click your wireless connection and click "Disable" to turn it off. Close "Network Connections" when you are done.

If you are hardly doesn't connect even your wireless station is been detected why not try to set your settings manually in your wireless card.

This is when you are behind a router.

Goto Network and sharing center. Click on Manage Wireless Network. Click on Adapter properties. Click Internet Protocol version 4. Click properties, then set the ipaddress of your laptop it doesn't have to be identical to any of your existing connection, your subnet, default gateway. And also input your IP DNS.

Courtesy of Gateway here is your driver for the network card:

http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?ref=step&st=browse&platform=10022&model=11417&os=10406&type=10095

Now here is where it gets tricky. I'm not sure what wireless network card you have there but on that page is a section that says other available downloadsm click on where it says "click here to view these results". There will be drivers for different network cards. I believe it will be the first one in the list, the broadcom one, if not then try any of the other wireless card drivers. Hope this helps you and sorry for the delay.

0) Be sure that your wireless router is working properly

1) Check your wireless card on your computer
See the status of the card
>>My PC>> right click Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Network

2) Check if your card (if it is PCMCIA Card) was installed correctly, if not installed again.
if you dont have the driver, get the driver of your card from manufacturer website (D-link, etc)

3) If your card is built-in check be sure that the power button is ON

4) Check if you have some or your wireless network available

5) If not renew your ip address

6) If you see the network, select your network and connect.

Let me know how it is going

It sounds like you need to reinstall the driver for the Realtek network interface card (NIC). I recommend accessing the Gateway web site to find the model number of the laptop, and then download the driver for the Realtek NIC. This should restore the functionality.

Wireless device not detected after i did a recovery

Are you saying your wireless controller on your laptop/desktop cannot be detected?

I would check in Device Manager to see if the card is displayed.

1. Right Click on "MY COMPUTER" and select "PROPERTIES"
2. Go to the "HARDWARE" tab and select "DEVICE MANAGER"
3. Scroll down to "NETWORK ADAPTERS" and expand the component
4. Do you see your wireless network adapter? If so, does it have a "RED X" on it? You might need to enable it by right-clicking on it and selecting "ENABLE". If it has no "RED X" you might need to reinstall it using the original network drivers that came with your computer.
5. If you don't see your wireless network adapter do you see a "YELLOW QUESTION MARK"? If so, expand that to see if you see an unknown device that shows it's a network adapter. If so, you need to reinstall it using the original network drivers that came with your computer.
6. If you reinstalled your network drivers and still it's not working it's possible that the wireless adapter itself is better or you have some system related problem.

This is a preliminary set of troubleshooting steps. I would need to know the results of the above procedures and some additional information. Please let me know if I can assist any further.

Does it say limited connection to network? You're connecting it through a wireless router right? Do you see your wireless router when you search for networks?
I had similar problem with my previous Dell laptop. Wireless use to work untill one day it just stopped, found the networks, but kept giving me limited connection whenever i tried to connect. I found out the problem is linked with the driver. Dell laptop i had was also on XP OS.
Maybe try reinstalling the drivers. After I formatted my computer and reinstalled drivers, it started working again.
Hope this helps.
