If your furnace uses an electrical glow element to light the pilot light, the Glow Element will need to be replaced. Glow Elements are general used on 90+ High Efficiency Gas Furnaces.

If it uses a standing pilot light rather than the Electrical Glow Element, you need to manually relight the pilot. Since I can't see your furnace, you will need to locate and read your Owners Manual on how to do this or look in the side or inside the pilot light compartment for instructions on how to light it.
Be sure you have stick match or a butane grill lighter with you before you try to light it.

If it's a manual pilot ... if after lighting it, it doesn't hold when turned to the ON position, more thank likely you'll need to have the Thermocouple replaced.

And above all, BE CAREFUL. If you don't feel comfortable lighting a gas furnace, call a professional.

Tappen furnace pilot will not light.status light keeps blinkink

If the light keeps blinking, its not getting the signal back from the thermocoupler. Look to make sure the flame is touching the thermocoupler. If it is not bend the bracket so that the thermocoupler tip is inside the flame of the pilot. If it is, the thermocoupler is bad and need to be replaced.

I have a goodman propane furnace, model # GMPN080-4 that lights for about five seconds and then cuts off. It does this three times and then stops all together. Tried lightly sanding the flame sensor and it...

The goodman furnace will try and light three time before it faults out for safety reasons. Adjust the flame sensor so that it is closer to the flame or actually in the pilot flame. If the flame sensor is inside the pilot flame and still does not stay lit, your flame sensor is probably defective and should be replaced. You can get one at Ferguson's counter sales.

Unit will not operate when turned on and a red light pulsates next to the

That blinking light is an error code. It will blink two different numbers such as three blinks, pause, then four blinks. Once you get the combination of blinks, look at the wiring diagram pasted on one of the panels for a diagnostic chart. It may help you pin point the problem area.

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

Hi my myson orion has a pilot but nothing coming out of the main burners when demand for heat hot water, please help. cheers

A furnace goes through more checks than the Shuttle before it lights! First, on the control board, are there any lights blinking, if it did light, there should be. Somewhere there is a placard showing what the number of blinks means; I need to know what is says on the placard. In the meantime, check the draft fan sensor - it looks like a small flying saucer towards the top. Blow and **** on the tubes and listen for a clicking sound and look for the presence of any water in that tube. That switch verifies that the draft fan is on and the mains will not fire if the control board doesn't get the proper sequence of signal......off, sensor open, fan on, sensor closed, verify pilot, fire mains, verify mains all it (sensor at opposite end from pilot). Hope this helps, if not, get back to me with that control board code. Ron
