Ice maker will fill when there is still Ice in the tray
The ice maker will fill when there is still ice in the tray. Water ends up everywhere. It does not appear the empty cycle happens, but the machine thinks it did and starts to fill the ice machine again. Could go on for many cycles until I finally get a call from my son telling me there is water on the floor. :-(
I remove the ice maker, empty it out and reinstall. Works for a few weeks even months until I get the next call.

Sounds like the solenoid that controls the water flow is open. This solenoid operates electrically to stop the water flow after the ice cube tray fills. With out the manufacturer, model, and age of unit I can not offer more information.
It sounds like the "freezing" tray may be over filling. If this is the case, replacing the water fill solenoid valve may fix the problem. Another possibility is the ice maker is not seated in its mounting screws properly and the water level is higher at one end than the other.
Chances are that the dual water control valve on the ice maker side is defective and not shutting off all the way allowing water to slowly leak by and mess up the freezer with frozen water everywhere. The replacement part is=> WR57X10051 Water Inlet Valve
If the water is simply an extended over fill after ice maker refills that will be caused by the ice maker itself. WR30X10093 Ice Maker Assembly If you have questions please ask, Thanks Sea Breeze
Check the water line leading to the ice maker for kinks. Also check the filer and ice tray end of the waterline for obstructions or ice that might be deflecting the water to areas other than the ice tray. Let me know how you make out. :^)

The waterinlet valve on the back of the unit where the
water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and
block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to
see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill
Probably the valve that feeds water to the ice maker leaks and this water freezes up at the filling tube to the ice maker and the water doesn't go through, but if the filling tube is not frozen and the ice maker doesn't call for water the problem is in the ice maker inside board ,if so you should replace the ice maker.
Sounds is if the ice mold heater is not functioning. This heater warms the bottom of the ice mold just enough to melt the ice and let it drop out. Usually not a repairable item. Replace ice maker assembly - if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, call a repair company.
try as little bit harder and the ice maker should pull out stright from the freezer. watch out for the holders they are on the back and they sometimes are broken if you are not carefull with them. there is also two wire that have to be unconected when you do this. they are moilex connectors and if you push the tabs they should pull apart real easily. Thanks for using FixYa And have a great new year.
