Hp pavilion dv4 laptop display works with external display only

Switch the display to the laptops screen. Shine a flash light on the screen and look very carefully for a faint image of what should be displayed. If you see it then either the back light or inverter board is dead. Usually the inverter board. These are housed inside the lid usually runnung alone the bottom of the display. If there is no image then the display is bad. The easiest fix would be to remove the entire lid and replace the whole thing. This will effectively replace all three parts I mentioned, but will be more expensive.

My screen goes fuzzy sometimes, and sometimes it shows double displays on one screen, it acts retarded or something. I have an hp pavilion dv2500

Could be one of four things:
  1. VGA cable from screen to the motherboard is loose or connection damaged, needs inspecting
  2. Display screen is failing, try this laptop on an external monitor, if display is ok, then at least the next problem is not the issue
  3. If the display on an external screen is just as bad, your graphics chip is going bad. On HP laptops, they use nvidia chips, which all seem to suffer due to overheating. If this is the case and you act quickly enough by stripping the laptop and cleaning out the cpu fan assembly and heatsink, you may get it working normally. If this fails to cure it, you will need to have the motherboard graphics chip "re balled"
  4. Bad graphics driver (least likely), download the latest graphics driver for this laptop

Hi i have hp 1410, it seems that its working, but nothing appear on the screen.

Hi Thanks for your question.
I'm afraid your laptop developed well known for tx series laptops issue. It looks like your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) has gone bad. Check HP website and see if your laptop is under extended warranty (HP issued some extensions of warranty on faulty series of laptops) If this is not a case you'll need to see a professional and possibly replace the motherboard. I'm sorry. This may put some light on your problem ------->http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware/Tablet-PC-tx2000-display-and-wireless-problems/m-p/46834
Good Luck to you.

My HP 6530 laptop (two weeks old) has suddenly gone to an inverted display and I can't seem t o get it right side up - do you know the Vista command to invert the display? Ctrl-Alt-Up/Down arrow does not...

--Press the Ctrl and Alt keys together then either the up or down or right or left arrow key to rotate the screen.
--if it's a GeForce Vid card, open your display settings (settings > advanced), click the Geforce XXXX tab, open 'additional properties', find NVrotate and click the button 'restore defaults' which is 'landscape (0 degree rotation)'.

My HP pavilion dv6000 laptop monitor will not work. Any suggestions? Jenny

If there is no display at all and the system seems to be booting up properly. Look for the switch video output button, it should look like a monitor or just a square w/ round corners. Press the function key and that key to switch between displays. If that doesn't bring it up try attaching an external monitor and then trying that key combo.

Laptop dispalys to monitor but laptop panel cannot be activate

Hi,

Thanks for all the details..

The issue seems to be with the video card drivers here...

Go to www.hp.com/suport and download the latest video card and the chipset drivers

before you download ...uninstall the nvidia chipset or any display software from program and features.

after you have installed the software.. go to the nvidia control panel > setup multiple monitors. and browse throughout the options >
It should be dual display and not extended display.

Also try with a new user profile...

Hope this helps..
Regards,
Anup
