Screen is blurry, it was dropped

You may have slightly dislodged the video interface ribbon cable that goes between the laptop's main board and the display itself. Or you may have damaged the LCD itself. Working on laptops can be tricky business and sometimes special tools are needed. If you feel brave you can remove the key board to inspect the connection between the laptops system board and the display. Before doing this I highly recommend you search for videos on disassembling your laptop on YouTube. Hope this helps.

Why did my Hp envy lose its video display?

Have you tried restarting your laptop? If still no display it could be a problem with the laptop's video chip

Hp p4 sysytem is blinking only red light and not display

There seems to be a problem with the motherboard. You need to get your hardware checked.
Alternatively, there is a solution that worked every time for me.

Disconnect The A/C Cord or Charger from the laptop,
Remove the battery,
Hold the Power Button for 45 seconds.

Put everything back together and then try!

Tips : Use a cooling pad or a hard surface to keep your laptop on. Sometimes this problem occurs due to improper ventilation & overheat problems.

Good luck !

I have an HP Pavilion a4000. It just stopped working a couple days ago. Display just rolled up and quit. I've been through everything I know how to deal with. When you push the power button it

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

The screen on my hp laptop is black ... the computer seems fine because I plugged in the screen from my pc and everything is working fine ... what can I do to get my laptop screen to turn on!??!

It is quite possible that the link of the LCD has broken up maybe on the hinge side. So it will be important to have the laptop taken apart to check the continutiy of the flexible membrane strip fromt he mother board to the display section.
If there is no break then the possibility of the display drivers being faulty is high which might require help from a reputed service centre.

My hp pavilion dv2000 screen will not come on. all led lights work but screen will only stay blank. What do I do?

Suggest you check first for damage to the Display Cable, before going further.

This is HP Support, the support page for the HP Pavilion dv2000 series laptops, and the Manuals download page,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1817074&

Left-click on the first file name -
HP Pavilion dv2000 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide.

After you click on the above PDF file name, you may not see anything happening for up to 30 seconds. The file is downloading in the background.
(For a test I downloaded it just now. Took almost 40 seconds with a medium speed DSL connection)

Don't know if you are familiar with PDF files. If so disregard the following.

Suggest you view the file at the 100% view. You can enlarge the view later anytime you wish.
At the top header is a Zoom In icon, and a Zoom Out icon.
Zoom In +
Zoom Out -

To the left is the Bookmarks menu.
By default it opens to the main heading - Maintenance and Service Guide.
Left-click on the + sign to the left of Maintenance and Service Guide.

Scroll down the sub-headings, and left-click on the + sign to the left of -
Removal and Replacement Procedures.

Now scroll down, and left-click on -
5.12 Display Assembly

You're on Page 145.
Use the blue Down Arrow in the top heading, and scroll down to Page 146.
I want you to view the Display Cable, item number 1.

Enlarge the illustration.
Scroll the page up a little for better clarity of the Display Cable.

The number 1 is pointing to the male connector on the end of the Display Cable, that plugs into the motherboard.
It is shown unplugged from the female (White) connector on the motherboard.

The Display Cable connects to the motherboard, and then routes to the LCD Display screen via right by one of the hinges. (Left Hinge)

Opening, and closing the laptop can cause the Display Cable to become partially disconnected from the motherboard.

The area the cable routes through, may cause damage to the cable over time. Generally the damage is visual enough to see.
Sometimes the cable is stretched, and the damage is not readily apparent.

The tiny wires inside that cable's sheath can be stretched far enough to break, and the outside sheath will show no apparent damage.
Fun stuff, huh?

Most of the time however, the male connection on the motherboard, has become partially disconnected.

To access the Display Cable:

1) Remove all power to the laptop.
Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and the Battery.

2) Lay the laptop on a table, push the LCD display assembly until it is laying flat on the table.

3) Remove the Keyboard.
(Page 137)

4) Remove the Switch Cover.
(Page 141)

I await your reply (Via a Comment) after you have opened the laptop, and diagnosed whether you have a Display Cable partially disconnected, or damaged, or no apparent damage is visible.

[ You may have to remove the Display Bezel from the Display Assembly, and look at the connection of the Display Cable going to the Inverter.

HP laptop monitor for dv7-1170us does not work

It sounds like your flat vga cable has pulled loose inside the panel. Just take the lid apart on your screen assembly and press that flat ribbon cable back in and tape it in place.

Hp monitor keeps displaying no signal what can i do thanks.

Try the monitor with a different desktop or laptop computer.
If it still is dead, it is dead.
If it works, then the video-card on your HP Desktop is the problem.

Dell laptop(Vostro) compared to HP DV 4 or 5

HP make good laptops, remember they use alot of similar components to make their machines work, the ram, processor and drives, are usually manufactured by the same company, or at least very similarly made. The choice really comes down to the motherboard, and the various ports on the laptop, just remember that 1 gig of ram isn't going to see vista really run, so opt for xp if you can, if you get 2 gigs, vista is fine. The choice is yours, but ultimately you need to decide what you'll be doing with it, and base your choice on that. It does seem though that dell has a more solid, reliable architechture than hp. Hope that helps!
