Not much information to go on---like what kind of pump is it and does the system have a relief valve? People replace good pumps to find out that the relief valve is bad and needs repair or replaced. But before I can give you additional help I need to know what type of pumping system you are having problems with.

Why is it my power washer starts but doesn't develop pressure?


Either a bad pump check valve or bad unloader valve. On customer grade gas power pressure washer pumps it is about the same cost to replace and get a good warranty than repair the current pump.

How do you know that a brake booster is bad?


Booster problems are rare but they do go bad sometimes.
A bad booster generally causes the brake pedal to feel hard to push down, and a lot of pressure on the brake pedal is required to make the car stop.
Rarely, a vacuum brake booster will develop a vacuum leak, which can cause engine performance problems, hissing or whistling noise, as well as requiring increased pressure on the brake pedal to stop.

The first test:
With the vehicle parked, turned OFF, and the parking brake set, pump the brake pedal 5 to 6 times. If the pedal gets harder to push after several times, your booster is probably good.

The second test (To make sure):
After the test above, without making any changes, press and hold the brake pedal with light to moderate pressure.
Now with your foot still on the brake pedal, start the vehicle.
If the booster is good, you will feel the pedal go down when the engine starts.

2007 honda accord diesel cuts out then takes ages to start,also goes into limp mode,states fuel rail pressure on diagnostic,had injectors tested,had new high pressure fuel pump,had new filter and hous


replace the high pressure pump with a known good normal pressure pump and see if it fixes the problem. Fuel systems are built around a pump supplying enough fuel to maintain operating pressure . There is a pressure regulator that keeps the pressure steady and a pressure sensor switch that turns the pump on and off as required . Pressure can only be generated when the fuel supplied exceeds the flow requirements and all units are built to suit the requirements of the system. By adding a high pressure pump that means that there is far more fuel than is required and it is possible that the pressure regulator is incapable of unloading sufficient fuel to accommodate it . Therefore the injectors will be getting more fuel than required and so the whole system goes to pot.

Check the pressure switch. Be sure you have enough water available. Check for a leak. What are you pumping. Is it pumping. I am not familiar with this pump so I am just listing some points to check. If it is a submersible well pump it can develop a lot of pressure.

Hi. I'm scratch building a pressure washer using a Comet BXD2831G pump. If I don't plan on using any type of detergent, is it OK (or manditory) to plug the detergent intake to keep it from sucking...


No need to plug the injector because under pressure (internal force/pressure) keeps valve shut. It only opens when large nozzle (black tip) is used lowering internal pressure causing siphon effect. Some chemical injectors have a thumbwheel to shut off flow completely. Your plug idea will keep the opening clean for later use. You can adjust pressure by ear. Your pump will take a 6.5 hp engine to develop max pressure of 2700 psi, however, to extend the life of the pump and engine, adjust pressure to about 75 % of capacity or about 2000 psi. To develop 6.5 hp your engine must turn at about 3600 rpm which is over the max rpm of the pump 3400rpm. The rpm of the engine is usually set by using the appropriate governor spring. Easy task, by using the model number and type of the engine, you can determine the proper governor spring and placement on the throttle arm, maybe about 3000 rpm would be sufficient. Now with engine rpm set, turn pressure adjustment up until engine sounds to you like at full labor, then adjust down to a workable pressure for majority of work and turn up for stubborn debris. Model CPW 1800 2 lance guns have developed leaks when pumping against dead end. Do these washesr have a pressure relief valve . Can this be replaced?

Hi i have a 2004 ford f250 with a 6.0 diesel it has been running fine ...i shut it off for 10 minutes after 4 hours of driving and tried to restart and it cranks fine but does not start.......so ..... I...


Some trucks may develop an oil leak at the high pressure oil pump outlet fitting. This will cause a no-start condition as the computer needs to see at least 500 PSI before it will activate the injectors. In some cases the no-start will be intermittent and/or an intermittent stall with no codes will occur. If high pressure oil leak diagnosis indicates a leak at the pump, the pump outlet fitting (W301727) and the discharge tube block should be replaced with fitting and bracket kit 4C3Z-9B246-A. Do not torque the outlet fitting beyond 38 ft/lbs. If the leak is traced to the branch tube running through the engine block, replace with P/N 5C3Z9J332-B (requires removal of the transmission, flywheel and rear engine cover; new flywheel bolts required). I had this exact problem with my 05 6.0 diesel and it is an issue that the dealer knows all about.

I have no oil pressure in the car we pulled the valve cover today and found 6 of the rocker arms were not installed, we havent pulled the other cover yet however with this not installed would this affect...

are you serious? Aside from that question. If there are rocker arms missing it could affect the oil pressure. Are the oil feed holes in the area of each missing rocker plugged off?

Perhaps I had better back-track here. If the oil lube system has no restrictions in it then there will be minimal oil pressure developed. The oil pump will be pumping oil to the lower end of the engine and that will be where oil press if any will be developed.

The rocker area has drillings which restrict the oil delivery from the pump, however, the rocker arms themselves offer resistance to the oil supply and the oil must have enough flow and pressure to form a circle of oil within the rocker arm and thus keep it clear of the shaft. The oil flow goes through the rocker arm, and down over the valves and pushrods,(if fitted) and drops back down into the oil pan. Different set ups can be used, but that's a basic configuration.

The engine lubrication is designed with certain resistances, and they in turn affect the flow of oil and the pressure developed by the pump.

Hello, my name is Matt and I'm on my second gas operated T30 and the Kohler engine is about to go on this one too. I'm considering mounting the 2475 pump under my truck and running it off of a PTO....


Ingersol Rand compressors are driven by a variety of motors and gas engines. They set the rpm of the pump based on the required cfm /psi output required by the customer and power source. Your compressor has aprox 12- 15 hp gas engine that develops full power at about 3600 rpm of the engine. The pump will most likely be turning about 1000 rpm. Easy to check, just mark both pulleys and count the number of turns of the engine pulley compared to the pump. Pump specifications can be found at www.grainger.com. You will find that most ingersol pumps turn from 650-1200 rpm for max output. You will max pump life if you are able to keep rpms low (600 - 1000 turns). The pump will not lubricate properly if you turn too fast. The compressor needs between 5 and 15 hp depending on the cut-out pressure. Full hp is required as the pump neers 175psi.
