I would like to remove dashboard from my 1969 chevelle so i can paint it i see 5 bolts under dash is there any bolts in top of dash underneath dashboard thank you
You will find bolts in the defrost air vents and under any speaker covers. also in the glove box. make things easy and remove the windshield first. can be done with the windshield in place but much harder.

On the 1969 Chevelle, there are only four regular bolts securing the fan clutch to the water pump. Start by breaking the four bolts loose while the fan belt is still on, but don't remove them all the way. (Makes it easier to break the bolts free without dealing with the water pump pulley turning). Once you have removed the fan belt, you can either unbolt the fan from the fan clutch first, or simply remove the fan clutch and fan as a single unit. JUST BE CAREFUL THAT YOU DON'T DAMAGE FINS ON THE RADIATOR IN THE PROCESS.
Screws and bolts are found on the side of the dash, and under the dash. Keep removing them until you find the next binding point, and remove another fastener. Eventually you will remove them all...
Drain the cooling system. Draining the cooling system will prevent toxic engine coolant from leaking into the passenger cabin of the vehicle during removal of the heater core. To drain the cooling system, simply disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator by loosening the hose clamp and pulling the hose off. Be sure to drain the fluid into a sealable container and dispose of the coolant at an appropriate disposal site.
2Pull the dashboard six inches rearward. In order to do this, you must remove the following parts; the center dash bolt (located under the defroster vent cover), the bolts under the driver and passenger kick boards, the bolt connecting the dashboard to the radio mount, and the the bolt connecting the dashboard to the rear of the glove box. The locations of these bolts are immediately apparent upon looking under the dash. Once you have removed these bolts, you can pull the dashboard rearward and secure it.
3Remove the heater core box. The heater core box is a black plastic box that surrounds the heater core. This part should be visible when looking down into the dashboard from the passenger side seat. Remove the two bolts on top holding it to the firewall and another on the bottom near the foot well. After removal of these bolts, the heater core and box are attached to the vehicle only by the coolant lines, which you can now disconnect by reaching into the box and pulling them off of the heater core (you may have to loosen the clamps first).
4Install the new heater core. This is accomplished by applying steps 1 through 3 in reverse order; re-connect heater core coolant line, re-install heater core box (be sure to apply silicon sealant to the edges of the box, hermetically sealing it), replace the dashboard and install bolts, and re-fill the cooling system.
1-Remove the vent/radio housing. 2-Remove the cover panels on either side of the dash that get cover when the door is closed. 3-Remove the panel under the steering wheel. 4- Remove glove box to open space inside of dash. 5-Remove four bolts and connector holding passenger side airbag and remove carefully. 6-Remove cover plate over shifter. 7-Remove the center console.(2 bolts under armrest and 4 screws-2 on either side of the console) 8-Disconnect the wiring harnesses on either side of dash.(White and black connectors. 2 on driver 1 on passenger. 9-Remove the four bolts holding the center of the dash to the floor. 10- remove two bolts on drivers side dash where cover was and same on passenger side. 11- Unbolt the steering column ( 2 bolts under the wheel) and let it rest on floor. 12- The entire dash will remove from the car as 1 piece and each component can be taken out from there.
It isn't worth it to fish for the bolts from the inside. Take the support bar out and work on it outside the car. much faster.
It seems confusing, but easy if you take your time
There is a little more to it than that, but not a tough job if you have patience. You will need to remove both 'doors' on the dash-one glovebox, one fuse access panel. on US models, you will need to remove the pass side airbag as well, then 2 bolts that hold a set of relays under the airbag, then 5 bolts that hold a support bracket (also under the pass side airbag-behind glovebox.
Then under the dash at teh outside near the doors, remove 2 sets of 10mm bolts. after than remove 2 sets of 10mm bolts near where the bottom of the dash touches the tranny tunnel. obviously all the center console needs to be removed, and the center panel of the dash, as there are several sets of screws that hold that to the back of the dash.
be patient, take lots of photos of how it goes together, and where the wiring is(was), and this is pretty easy.
There are quite a few bolts on this fender. One on the bottom of the rocker, one between the the door and fender on the "A" pillar, one on the cal, one on the firewall then several on the inner fender and several on the radiator core support. after these are removes you need to take ou the head light assembly and you should have a fender brace under the front of the car. Hope this helps.
remove steering wheel speedo clock column switches heater controlls time clock,,basically evertin in the dash even glove box possibly steering shaft also,,,then youl see all the bolts and screws that hold it in ,,,plenty of ten mil bolts in the left and right side of the dash on the bottom and so on,,some bolts could be hidden behind the air vents too not sure though go gently,,,youl do it ,,,
Start by draining the coolant, disconnect dash board wiring harness from pcm behind kick panels, disconnect eye shaft, unbolt dashboard and remove dash. (Remember to tape steering wheel in place as it might have a clock spring). You might have to remove some trim panel on top of dash or cluster from dashboard to gain access to retaing bolts, disconnect heater hoses from heater core in engine compartment and remove heater core, reverse install.
