I have a Linksys Wireless G Router (WRT54G). I have a Comcast Cable modem that is connected to the router with an ethernet cable. I have a Dell laptop that recognizes the wireless network, but when I try to connect to the internet my browser opens but the screen is just white and the internet is not available. If I disconnect the router and run the ethernet cable straight from the Comcast Cable modem into my laptop then the internet works fine. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Thanks for your assistance.

You must be using the cable type of isp i guess like comcast, cox or cable vision, Try this Take power cable out from modem and router-
Now PLUG OUT THE CABLE OF POWER TO YOUR MODEM WAIT FOR 2 MINTS. DONT DO ANY THING B4 2MINTS. NOW connect the power cable of router - Hope it may get work- Else try open IE page - type 192.168.1.1 - Press enter - admin is password
leave username blank
Click Mac address clone- Enable- Clone my pc's mac-save settings. Click Wireless - W/l n/w mode mixed - network name - user defined - Channel 6 SSID broadcast - Enabled- Save setings, Click on wireless security on the top under sub tabs of wireless select the wpa security type - make security of your own.

It appears the connection between the Linksys and the modem is not working.
Try a different LAN cable.
Check the LAN cable from the modem to the Linksys, it should be connected to the WAN/Internet port on the Linksys.
Router setup Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the Comcast cd installed. then: Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem. Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. Did Comcast reset you wireless router settings? If so, you may need to set up your SSID and security settings.
Customizing Wireless Settings of the Router
Having default wireless settings on the Linksys router may cause conflict with other Linksys routers within your network range. Linksys suggests changing the SSID (network name) and the Wireless Channel of your router. Also, if it is possible, enable the Wireless Security of your router.
To change the router’s SSID or the wireless network’s name, click here. To change the router’s channel, click here. To enable the wireless security on the router, click here. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
With Comcast make sure the you clone the MAC address because they use it as a authentication for your internet connection, MAC clone is done on the router setup page eventhough you're using now a DDWRT firmware and after cloning the MAC address on the router page power cycle modem and router for a minute then power on modem first next the router....
